Bowie's TROUBLES_A petition has been
Died in the office of the Clerk of the Court of Com?
mon Pleas by one Frances Bowen, of Augusta, Ga.,
claiming that she was lawfully married to CC.
Bowen on October 3.st, 1S?2, and that he has
?nee, abandoning the petitioner for more than
twelve years, contracted two other marriages,
and praying to have a decent maintenance set
apart for her oat of Bowen's estate. The petition
ls signed and sworn to at Augusta, Ga, January

LITTLE FAUST.- The Academy of Music was
again handsomely filled last Bight. Mrs. Oates, as
Mephisto, looted gracelui anil charming, as uaaal,
and won a rich harvest of plaudits, being repeat?
edly encored. Mr. Allen, as Marguerite, was got
op regardless of expense, having back hair enough
te Bet ap three or four first-class King street belles.
Be was in excellent voice; so also was Mr. Drew,
the tenor, who personated Faust, and the .trio,
sung by him, the soprano and baritone, was the
bonne bouche of the evening, and received. a
hearty encore. Mr. Crane ('Walentine,") the cot
.Ml of the very martial home g narda-a good
om kept the audience In a roar the best part of
the evening. '-Bottons" did some capital acting.
Tko audlenee was evidently -very much pleased,
though we wul not undertake to say that Seethe
would have shared that feeling, had he been pres?
ent.
To-night the company will give the "Flower
Girls of Paris." The absence of the orchestra'
was very much felt, and, we believe, generally re?
gretted. _

The receipts show Borne falling off from those of
last week, but ?till they are nearly 60 per cent,
over those of the same time last year. The stocks
in thc interior towna show an increase of 6019,
against 639 bales last year. We look for Increas?
ed receipts for the next month or six weeks, be?
cause tue country tributary to New Orleans,
Mobile and Galveston, where a large crop has
been made, have only delivered so far io v per
cent, over last year, and the receipt* have been
delayed by low water In the tributaries. Savan?
nah and Charleston have delivered 41 per cent,
more than last year. If we look back at the
course of receipts for the past five years, lt will
tie not faed that there has been a ral ling off from
the second week in December (this year's receipts
were 157,873 j to the second week In January (IQIB
week.) after which the receipts were lea vier
through the balance or January and part of Feb?
ruary.
CROPS.-We have nothing new to note, except
flue weather for picking, since our last report on
30th December. The receipts are now 394,230
bales ahead of last year, end ir the receipts should
now drop to last year's figures, the crop wou'd be
ab jut 3.500.000. Up to 4th March, we have only
to compare with an average of 90.000 bales week?
