ygg BAPTIST STATE CONVENTION. Fonrti) Day. iraOU OTO OWN CORRESPONDENT.] GREENVILLE, S. G., Joly SI. .' Lut night the annual address to the Aluino i of Funnan University waa delivsred byY. J. Pope, Eeo.., of Newber.y. Quite a large and intelligent audience assembled to hear'bis promising and talented gentleman. After the address,.the convention resumed its sessions in order that all the business of the body might be comp'eted before tbe* Sabbath. Various committees made their reports, and a few minor topics came up for discussion. Among ibo last measures adopted by the convention, was that io provide a fund for indigent minis? ters. There are at present several aged and "needy ministers in tbe BaptiBt denomination, who are nuable to provide for their own neces? sities, and are forced to appeal to their breth? ren for ai cL SARBilH. Tbe Charity 8ermon was preached at ll tfolock, by Rev. L. H. Shuck,, ot the .First Baptist Church in your dty, from 1 Samuel, iv chapter, 18 verse. Immediately alter the dis coarse a collection wss taken np for the ob-1 ?nsofthe convention. At the same bonr v. J. R- Mendenhall preached in Dr. Buiat's church and Rev. T. W. RUSSELL, oue of our careful and intel? ligent Pharmaceutists and Apothecaries, has sub? mitted to my examination the formula for the preparation of a Soothing Cordial prepared and vended by him. lt affords me pleasure to express a favorable opinion of its safe and efficient adaptation to the particular cases of the diseases of children, whicl it is designed to relieve. E. GEDDINGS, M. D. Having had occasion to prescribe RUSSELL'? Soothing Cordial in severe cases of Bowel Com? plaints in children and delicate females, I have been much pleased with its effects. I consider lt a valuable medicine in all cases, In which lt may be advisable to avoid the use of anodyne, and par? ticularly for family use, as it ls perfectly safe. W. T. WRAGG, M. D. CHARLESTON, S. e., 1868. Dear Sir-1 have used your Soothing Cordial foi Diarrhoea in teething children, and nnd lt a very excellent preparation. It has a great advantage over most preparations of the kind In containing no Opium or Narcotic. When these are required they can be added in proportions applicable to the case. I therefore can recommend its use m the abor? tion 9 for which it is designed. Respectfully yours, Ac, T. L. OGIER. M. I). CHARLESTON. S. C.. 18(18. 1 certify that 1 ?tave most successfully used RUSSELL'S Soothing Cordial in the Summer Com? plaints of infants. He has fully exhibited the in? gredients of his remedy, and the tedious method of preparation. I recognize the prescription containing no anodyne whatever-as a most safe and efficacious one in bowel affections of children. When much pain or restlessness attends the affec? tion, doses of Paregoric can be added to the pre scribed doses of the Cordial according to thc uge of the patient. The compound, though more often, acts in an efficient manner without any ad? dition of anodyne. In the Diarrhoea of the aged, in increased doses, it is of great value as a remedy; never disagree? ing with the stomach-increasing appetite, im? proving digestion, and acting as a slow but effi? cient astringent agent. W. M. FITCH. M. D. MOUNT PLEASANT, S. C., 18C(.. Afr. J. E. SmttU : DEAR SIR-I have used your Soothing Cordial for children extensively in my practice, and mos) cheerfully testify to its merita.
