RAILROAD ACCIDENT.-Wc learn (nat a colli? sion occurred on the Northeastern Railroad, ou Friday evening, between two freight trains, whereby the two engines and two freight cars were more or less injured. One of the engineers, Mr. Gradick, and a colored fireman, suffered some pretty serious bruises. CORONER'S INQUEST.-Thc body of a white infant, but a row days old, was found Heating iu thc dout?t thc foot of Laurens street, on Satur? day evening. The lower part of thc body was completely eaten away, and the general appear? ance so decomposed as to prevent any Identifica? tion. A jury was summoned by Coroner Whiting, who returned a verdict of dcatli from causes uu known. DRAMATIS PERSON.E.-The Chapman Sisters, with Bishop and the members of that stock com? pany, left on the Northeastern Railroad yest er day morning for Wilmington, N. c., where they will'fill a short engagement. They will also play at Raleigh, Norfolk, Petersburg and Richmond. Mr. Neil Warner. Miss Lillie Eldridge, and Miss Alexander, with the other members of the troupe, arrived from August* yesterday afternoon, and will reappear on the boards of thc Academy or Music to-night. FIRE.-About halt-past 12 o'clock on Sat? urday night the alarm or fire was given and traced to the office of Messrs. Reeder A Davis, on Adger's northwharf. That office, with Messrs, Gaillard A Minott's overhead, and Messrs. Fraser A Dill adjoining, were injured by the fire, but the damage is not serious and can be repaired at a small outlay. All of the books, papers and other valuables in the offices were saved, and only the woodwerk ?f the inte? rior was destroyed. The Are is attributed to acci? dent. One of the members or the Phoenix Fire Company Tell overboard during thc fire, but was caught and rescued as he readied the surface. TUE SHAKESPEARIAN REVIVAL.-The return or the well-known tragedian, Mr. Nell Warner, io the Charleston boards to-night, will bc welcomed with sincere pleasure by our people. In the ex cellentffompany by which he ls supported, we have an assurance that the standard plays to be produced during his engagement will bc pre? sented with all the completeness, fidelity and care that could be desired. A fine double bill is offered for to-night, embracing thc "Merchant of Venice" and the "Taming of the Shrew." The old favorites, Miss Alexander, Miss Eldridge, Mr. Fannln, Mr. Wood, Mr. O'Neil and Mr. Ryan, are iu thc cast. Such a bill should draw a full house. CRUMBS.-The annual meeting of the stock? holders of the Sonth Carolina Railroad Company, and of the Southwestern Railroad Bank will be held to-morrow morning at the bank building. The S?dlicher Correspondent argues, very prop? erly, that the price or lager beer ls too high, and should be reduced rrom ten to five couts per glass. There are fifteen patients from the French man of-war now at the Morris Island Lazaretto, three or whom are not expected to live. No new cases have been developed on board the vessel. The Augusta papers ol yesterday state that thc heavy and coutlnaed rain on Friday seems to have extended np the Savanuah river, judging rrom the swollen tide of that stream. Since 6 .o'clock Friday atternoon to 3 P. M., yesterday, the river marked a rise of ll rect-registering at the city bridge, at the latter hour, 10 feet G inches, Testing upon a stand at these figures. FAREWELL OF THE CHAPMANS. - Perhaps because it was to bc their last appearance in .Charleston this season, the Chapman sisters .played on Saturday night with even more than their usnal brilliant vivacity. They were as volatile, as sparkling and as effervescent ns champ^ne, twinkling and warbling with be? witching spritelluess rrom the first ..'sing of the curtain until the final going down of the same. Thc sisters were vehemently applauded, and onr of their songs vwith Bishop) was encored four times. Bishop was all that he has ever been and more. The audience twisted their races until they looked like door-knockers, they tied their legs In knots, and made corkscrews or their -chappy hands. And all without avail. Bishop was too much, and they laughed ! laughed ! laughed ! until sides ached and buttons new. As ?we predicted, "The Forty Thieves" and "Wanted a Thousand Milliners" made a highly attractive bill, and the burlesque troupe went out in a blaze .or dramatic glory. Mr. Kennedy, an actor who should be made much or, played with judgment and taste. This young actor is a main prop to any company-a stand-by who may be counted on to do his best at all times, and that best very good. The old and new bouds ranged side by side iu price, and advanced to SC." The Herald of Friday says: '-There was an un? usual activity in thc Southern Stale bonds, and a generally strong market. Thc features were the South Carolinas and Virginias. The hitter rose to 67 for new bonds, an advance of about three per cent, since yesterday. Thc South Carolinas were quoted R7 bid for the new bonds, with none offer? ing under 90. In addition to thc demand from the insurance companies thc bonds are in request for investment, especially since the introduction in the State Legislature of a bill to create a sinking fund commission, who shall have power to grad ually extinguish the State debt after thc manner in which Secretary Bontwell is buying in thc na? tional debt. South Carolina holds about ?2.".oo,0u0 in various securities, which, together with Hie proceeds of the sale of public lauds, it is proposed to devote io the sinking fund process, willi a view to the rednctlon of thc debt at the rate of about $1,600,000 annually. C., who announces his intention of continuing on hi* own account the shipping and general commission business at Ko. 1 Union Wharves, Charleston, in connection with the agency of thc new steam line to New York on Thursdays. "Mr. Courtenay is a frequent visitor to our city, and has a large and influential circle of friends here who will be pleased to learn of his business plans as announced. Wc have conversed several times during the past two years with him, and have always found him a strong advocate of au all rail connection between the wharves of Charles? ton and the waters of the Ohio and Mississippi, a measure full of large results to thc seaport of Charleston, and demanded by thc business com? munities of the great cotton belt, now in close connection by rail with that city, and we leam soon to be realized. Mr. Courtenay maintains that Charleston harbor ls fully up to the require? ments of the West, aud demonstrates his views by inviting attcntiou to the two new Iron steam? ships Tennessee and South Carolina, of which he ls the agent, each capable of moving 3000 bales of cotton on eleven feet draft of water. DISASTROUS EFFKCTS OF THE STORM ON TUE COAST.-The storm ot last Friday morning off our coast has resulted in disastrous shipwrecks, at? tended with great loss of life. Captain James H. Farrow, of thc schooner Samuel C. Boora, rrom Hyde County, North Carolina, for Wilmington, loaded with corn, arrived in that elly on Satur? day overland from Federal Point, and reported the wre?k of four vessels upon the beach north of New Inlet. About s A. M., Friday, thc 4th, during a terrible gu c from the northeast, Captain Farrow's schoon? er, the Samuel C. Eborn. was driven ashor- on the I ?each about four miles north of New Inlet. About thc same time. Hie sein oners Racer, Cap? tain llatcltell, and Bay, Captain Nelson, from Elizabeth City, loaded wilh corn, were also beach? ed, the Racer about one-half mile and the Bay about two miles north of the Eborn. Shortly af? terwards the schooner Eleanor P., Irom Baltimore, lor Wilmington, driven by the sam- furious gale, was Mown upon Hie beach about one-hair mile to ihe southward of the Kbom; and in a few mo lucius went to pieces. Five men were counted niwtii her dock ns the vessel was driven ashore, and, after thc ship went to pieces, were again seen manfully clinging to fragments of the wreck, lt was a fearful sight to witness. These poor creatures tossed about madly bv thc waves and yet striving so manfully for life. Four ??r them hail together secured one fragment ol' the wreck and the tl rt li clung alone to another por? tion. The crews or the three corn vessels, who had safely landed, and the pilots and wreckers who were attracted by the scene, lined the beach with Hie hope that some ol these unfortunate sail? ors would be washed ashore, and that they could then render some assistance. But, alas, they were tom rrom the floating timbers by thc willi, mad waves before the very eyes of those upon the beach and hid forever in the briny deep. Thc Eleanor T. had on board a cargo or fertill zcrs, and was consigned to Messrs. o. G. Parsley A Co., of Wilmington. 'I here was no Insurance upon the cargo. The Eboni had as cargo about DUO bushels or corn; the Racer about lnou bushels and the Kay about 1200 bushels, all ol which wc learn was' insured. Beery, of the ? wrecking linn of Beery Bros., has gone down lo examine the position ?r the vessels and sec what can be done towards getting them off. Wc fear, after these wrecks upon one of thc least dangerous parts of our coast, we are yet to hear or tithers more dreadful still during thc gale off Hatteras and other dreaded points. DRAWING-ROOM ENTERTAINMENT.-The pub? lic are promised a treat at the Hibernian Hall, on Wednesday night, In the shape of a select draw? ing-room entertainment. Mr. James Taylor, the celebrated English comic impersonator, Professor A. Silvester, thc great Illusionist, aided by Miss Marie and Miss Ada Alexander, will present a bill that has never failed to draw crowded houses. The entertainment is novel, but has in it all thc clements necessary to make the occasion ono of unmixed enjoyment.
