CIVIC HOSPITALITIES TO TUE OFFICERS OP rae SPANISH GUNBOATS.-A communication was received yesterday by Mayor Pillsbury, from Se? nor de Moneada, the Spanish Consol, asking him to state what hour would bc convenient for him to receive the officers of the fleet of Spanish gun? boats now in our harbor. Half-past two o'clock was designated. At that hour the Spanish Con? sul, accompanied, by Commodore Casariego and Captains Tragua, Plnegro and Lagunilla, called upon the Mayor at his chamber. Aldermen Bar? row, Collins, Yolgt, Cunningham, Geddings and Hampton represented the Connell. Dr. Lebby, the health officer; Messrs. Thomas and Whilden, treasurer and assistant treasurer ; P. J. Coo gan and M. G. Camplin, appraiser and assistant; the City Sheriff and the City Attorney were also present, and united in tendering to tho guests the hospitalities of thc city. The visitors were shown the paintings and other objects of interest in the Conned Chamber, and after a pleasing in? terchange of courtesies, an adjournment was called tittie clerk's office, where a collation was ?prend by Roberts, the caterer of Council. The health of the Spanish officers was quaffed in champagne, and toasts were offered expressive of the entente eorMate existing between thc authori? ties and the officers of the fleet. Forgartie: the leases to be extended lor a period or ten years. Also, thc renewal or the leases or water lots to E. M. Brodie, Courtenay A Trcuholmand H. T. Street, for a term of ?Ive years. Aldermen Collins and Barrow opposed thc re? port and advocated the advertisement or the lands in thc public prints, so that all persons could bid ror the leases, and not make a monopoly or thc leases or the city lands by certain parties who had heretofore occupied them. Alderman Vo*st explained that the prices asked for these lease had been largely increased. The tenants had improved the property, and- lt was thought only Justice to allow them to retain pos? session of these city lands. On motion, thc report was referred back to the committee. The Committee on Steam Kngines reported fa? vorably on thc petitions or James Adger A Co. and J. C. Jacobs. Adopted. The petition or Messrs.
