Tte down passenger train from Branchville, yes? terday, brought Mr. Armstrong and Mr. Cad worth, the mail agent and express messengen who were injured by the accident of Tuesday af? ternoon. Mr. Armstrong received a cut over the eye, hails not confined to the boase. Mr. cud worth is more seriously injured, being cut and bruised about the head and body. His feet are Badly swollen, and it is feared he may have re? ceived internal Injuries, as, when he was dlscov ed. the axle of the car was lying on his body, and She car was a general wreck. ? IstPBOVBMBNTS ON W ILA RF PROPERTY. The Central or Fraser's wharves, which were completely destroyed daring tho war, have been rebuilt, and a number of Improvements added. Aa entirely new range of offices have been erected OB the north wharf, and the whole property pal ta complete repair. It was proposed at one time to erect s steam cotton presa on the large vacant aren between the two wharves, and the project is yet under consideration. These wharves are faery localed for business, and have extensive accommodations for both storage and shipping. A targe shed will aoon be erected on South Baloo wharf, which will add considerably to the Basin esc facilities of that property. This Is lower than it bas been at any time since the war. TUB Quo WARBANTO CASES OK CITY OFFI? CERS.-These cases were heard by Chief Justice Moses at Chambers, in Columbia, on Tuesday last, upon return t to the rules upon thc several defen? dants to ?show ca?an why they should not be at? tached for contempt, in not obeying the orders made in the several coses on thc 4th October last. The cases were argued by C. R. Miles, Esq., for the relators, and D. T. Corbin, City Attorney, for defendants. The Chief Justice reserved his decision, but at the same*time announced emphatically that the orders of the court shall bc respected and obeyed, and there should be a speedy termination of j thc cases, for that thc present condition of things was not only Injurions to thc public, but discredi? table to all concerned. The decision hi these cases involves the validity of the action of the City Council In abolishing the offices of Assessor and Assistant Assessor, and creating the offices of Appraiser and Assistant j Appraiser, and electing thereto thc defendants, P. J. Coogan and Moses Camplin, after judgment of | ouster had been pronounced against them; in removing the City Sheriff and electing thc de? fendant, George Addison, to thc office, and also in declaring the offloe of Flour Inspector, tilled by Mr. Averill, to be vaoant, and electing thereto the defendant, M. OaulUeld. The questions Involved in these cases are not only of vital Importun?e to the parties, but con? cern the whole community, who are Interested that thc supremacy or the law shall be main? tained.
