A PROBARLE Munumi. - At an early hour Sunday morning a colored man, named James Batley, was found lying near thc railroad track, about six mites from the city, li is absence from hts home on Saturday night induced a search, which resulted in lils discovery. When found, he was lying on thc track in such a position that thc wheels of a passing train would mutilate thc body. There was a terrible wound in tho head, aud ho waa quite insensible. Dailey wus al once brought to thc city and taken to thc Roper Hospi? tal, but his injuries were mortal and he expired thc Hame evening. Tho Coroner was notified, and a Jury of inquest empanelled, who viewed the budy und adjourned until the witnesses from be? yond tho city limits could bc summoned. West, or New York, (heavy dealers in produce and fruits) have entered Into a contract with this company to flt up, early in tho spring, thc Charleston and Savannah steamships and con? necting linoa of steamers to Ht. John's River, Florida, by thc application of thia patent on board said steamers. This same Arm will also purchase 10,000 acres of land near Savannah, and put thc same in fruits and early vegetables.
