COURT PF GENERAL SUSSIONS-HON. R. B. CARTKNTKR, PRESIDING.-Tho following cases were tried: Thc Slate vs. Fred. Johnson-assault and bat? tery. Verdict, guilty. Thc State vs. Moses Smalls-larceny. Verdict, guilty. Thc Stato vs. Charlas Harrison, alias Charles Jacobs-murder. Messrs. w. st. Julien Jorvoy and C.eorge lt. Walker for thc defence. Tho pri? soner plead not guilty, and after ten challenges by Hie prisoner and three by the State, a jury was formed. The murder was committed on thc 15th or last August, near thc Four-mile House, by thc deponent on Jim Seabrook, both colored. Harrlsou strongly suspected thc tlcccasrd of having adulter? ous intercourse with his wife on Friday,and,having watched thc paries Tor t wo days, he met Seabrook on Sunday morning near his house, and think? ing this u continuation of hts Jealous doubts, he shot him wit h a sin all pocket pistol, Seabrook being kilted Instantly. Harrison was defended by coun? sel, who spared no pains to prove thc Innocence or their ellem.
