TUB BTltlKB AND TUB REMEDY. Our community has frequently been disturbed or late by the demands of a Bot or Radical ne groes, vrho have nulled under the naino or tho longshoremen's I'rolccilvo Union, aud who, availing themselves or tho supposed necessity of their employers, have act up the most unreasona ble exactions In tho mut;, r or wuges. A very little firmness, however, on the part of the em ployers defeated their attempts, They have now made another outbreak ou a new pretended issue. For some good and suilleient reason, we pre sume, certain shipowners refuse to trust their cargoes to tho hands or one Sloddard, who Isa stevedore and a Radical olllce-holdcr. Vfhcrc upon this protective union retiise to load or un load vessels, unless Stevedore Stoddard bo per inlttod to bavo the handling or property which tho parties Interested nro disinclined to commit to nu uuwniehcd manipulation. The uiilon claims that, being a Radical, he Is necessarily trustworthy, and therefore any exception to him must have its origin in objection lo bis political principles. K this wore true, and the character or the man in no way Involved, does it lie in the months of Radicals to complain or It asn proscription, when they have, within a very few days only, In mass assemblage in the entire Radical league, demand Cd of their creatures, the Mayor ami Aldermen ol Radicalized Charleston, that every Democrat on the police or the city should be forthwith dis charged, ami their places tilled by mcinbeti of the Union League;and in obedience lo this man date, presented by a select committee, these de mands have been acccctled to, and some twenty or thirty Democrats turned adrift at once, and a promise made by the Mayor that, ho would remove the others as last as their places could be sup plied 1 N?w theso negro Radicals again disturb the quiet of the community with their bowlings, because, forsooth, the poisoned chalice, which they prepared for Democrats, has been commend ed to their own lips. it Is time, In our opinion, that these politic il doc tors should bemndc to swallow their own physic, and we would suggest to shipowners nnd con signees. Hint the very best dose to administer would be the substitution of these proscribed Democrats in lieu of their Radical proscrlber.s. Frequent doses of this sort may be required for n time, lint Its operation will he ultimately effec tual. So long as the disease continues, the reme dy should be applied. It Is n panacea for special cases, und a prophylactic to purify the political at mosphere of all bodies approaching a similar slate or corruption. Hotel AiTlvnlf-Ortnlicr 30. charleston uotel. R. P.
