Nor do the Ouio Radicals oonofsWJpeir feeling that there is hard work In store for them if they wonld avoid defeat. The Cin? cinnati Commercial, a thorough Radical sheet, says: ' The Democratic patty is formidable in numbers and in discipline, and tbe friends of Pendleton, who have forced this nomination upon him. will make a prodigious effort to elect him. It may be depended upon that he will get more votes than Rosecrans could havo re? ceived, and that the Ohio campaign this fall will at ODoe attract attention throughout the country as of national significance." And Horace Greeley, in the Tribune, irankly admits that the Oaio Republicans must labor untiringly lo bs successful. Certain it is that the Ohio Democrats, in nominating Mr. Pendleton, abandon all compromise measures, and go into the can? vass upon the great questions of negro suf? frage, the finances and the tariff. There are live issues, appreciated and under? stood by every Western man. Against them the Radicals cannot set np with effect their old shibboleth of the blacks and Southern reconstruction. The Democrats stand en the platform of the constitution and de? mand a strict adherenoe to its principles as interpreted by the party. And while this war cry must come home lo the heart of the merchant, the farmer and the artisan, these will ding to the D mccracy who de? mand free trade, purity ot government and the equal taxation of all classes of people. The Radicals have not a single sound prin? ciple upon which to make their fight Their corruption, their tyranny, their extrava? gance, their protection dootrine, their de fenoe of the bondholder against the plough holder, their exaltation of the negro over the Southern white man, have disgusted the country; and even Republicans look for salvation to the only true exponents of re publican principles--the Demooraoy of the Uaited States. Honest Republicans oannot longer endure the iniquities of their Rad i eal companions, and in Ohio, now that tho "expediency dodge" has been abandoned, they shonld fall like ripe apples into the lap of the Democracy.
