The dwelliug house of John Pries was barn? ed down on Monday .the 21 ins aut. Mr. Price and his grand-daughter bad come to Wa inalla on that day, and no living sonl was about the Emises. On his return he found his dwell and his outbuildings a heap of ashes. Nothing of his fornitoaj was saved, the bund? ine; being orel ty well consumed before tbe fire waa discovered. The boase was situated on the public road leading from Ofd Pickens io Walhalla, and abont one mile from the Falls on Little River. The Camden Journal says : "The unfavor? able weather of the past few days is having its effect upon tbe cotton crop ot this and the neighboring district. Reports reach os from all quarters of the appearance of the rast. Tbe cotton in many localities, from the unfavor? able spring is more backward than usual, and should the rust prevail to mach eitent tbe hopes ot our planters for a large crop will be blasted." The same paper says: "An inquest was held by J. A. Schr?ck, magistr tte, acting as coroner, on Friday, the6th inst..opon the bodv of Mr Joseph B. Hughes, a gent loman well known in this vicinity, at which inquest it ap? peared that Mr. Hoghes and a colored boy, Wade Dyo, were coming to Camden in a wa.on on that morning. When abont eight mi es from town, a pine tree whiob had by some means caught fl ie and burned through, fell noon the wagon killing Mr. Hoghes almost instantaneously, and mortally woi-nding one of the moles. The wagon was shattered. Wade Dye made his escape by leaping from it. By bis testimony, it appears that they did not see the falling tree, until it was nearly anon them, when Mr. Hughes ex daim ed, "Wade! Lord have meroy ea us," and endeavored to leap ont of its way. By the agree? ment which bad been entered into between the above named clubs, the second of a series of games was to be playea in this city, but owing to circumstances well known to the pub? lic, the Chariest on club insisted opon so modi? fying the agreement that the second game of me series sbonld be played in Charleston in? stead of Savannah.
