ment that the Interest would ho paid on State and
city bonds and stocks they have appreciated in value,
and city stock is firm at Cl? 60. Bank bills aro in
active demand with an advancing tendency. Money
is loaned freely at 9 per cent, per annum on good

THE CHOPS -The planting interest throughout tho
South has experienced, during the week just dosed,

-conditions which have been experienced for several

the most favorable cotton yield possible nuder the
present status of affairs.
The corn crop, although generally looking well,
Bas reached tbat condition of its growth which will
require early and refreshing showers in order to per?
fect the grain, and unless such timely rains are se?
cured the yield will be seriously lessoned.
The rice crop, also, in several of ene rivers, stands
in urgent want of a supply of fresh water, and the
yield in many case * will be seriously diminished un?

713-16; 77at7?i; 19 at 7?; 7 at 1%; 12at7Jk?; 88 at
7%;7at8)?c. ft lb. We quote common to fair

NAVAL STORES-Thc receipts of tris CUBS of ar?
ticles for the week were about 1200 bbls. The sales
of rosin amounted to 600 bbl?, say No 1 at $2 26?
3 26; extra Ko 2 at $2, and Nos. 2 and 3 at (1 80?
1 85. About 200 bbls spirits turpentine were dis?
posed of at 87c i? gallon ; market firm. The opera?

BAT.-The arrivals of this article have been about
1000 bales of Norm Blver qualities. We note sales
at $1 05 and $1 02 ft hundred, the ' latter rate for
cash.
COEN.-The receipts of this grain were about 20,

ness done to-day ba<? not been large m shipping
yarns, in consequence of the high price demanded
by spinners, tbough it bas been ot lair extent. A
good deal was offering at some relaxation of prices.

Tuesday ; but tl) ore was less bustne'S offering tban
yesterday or on Wednesday. Boib in twist and weit
