James Gibbes, of Columbia, S. C., and one of the directors of the Columbia and Augusta Rail rc ad, we learn that the trains of this rord will enter the city on next Friday or Saturday. The intersection of the Colombia and Augusta with the Sont h Carolina Railroad at the turn? table on the line of the latter road, one mile east of Ute Savannah B iver, as provided for in the recent contract between the parties, will take place on one of the two days above nam? ed, and the trains of the former road will come immediately into the city instead of stopping at Orangeville, as at present. THE NEGBO POSTHASTES AT COLUMBIA.-The Augusta Constitutionalist says : "We under? stand that Wilder, the negro postmaster of Colombia, bas finally concluded that his aspi? rations have bsen far above bis abilities, and bas actually importuned Ur. Samuel Leapbart, who formerly held the position of ohief clerk in the office (ander Mr. J. C. Ja a ney, succeeded by Wilder) to relieve him of his burden, agree? ing to accept any part of the salary ot the position which Ur. Leapharc'a liberality may see proper to allow him. Ur. L., in accordance with the express wishes of the c.tizena, had concluded to accept the proffered offer of Wilder, when the latter foond a little hitch in the transfer, growing out of the fact that Govirtor Scott was ono of the endorsers of his official boid, aud it would bo necessary to con? sult him with regaid to tho erocutioa of the manouvre. The black negro endorser on Wilder's bond acquiesces in the pur? pose of his principal to transfer bis office, and there are hopes expressed that Gov? ernor Scott, from a little circumstance of re? cent occurrence, in which he was personally inconvenienced, may yield his assent to Wild? er's abdication. It seems that the Governor baa been in Charleston for the past week, and found it essential for his personal or party pur? poses to order a remittance from the capital. A check waa enveloped and dispatched to his anxious Excellency through mail. The check failed to reach Chat leaton, and the Ohio Gu bernator of South Carolina returned to the capital to investigate the obstructions which interposed to abut off hie anticipated supply of fonds. He succeeded in finding the check, to his great chagrin, (because Soothern Gover? nors, in tbese degenerate days, must have cash at command to grease their machinery) quietly resting in the Columbia Postoffice. It is hoped that the people of Colombia may reap some substantial good from this reported 'tiling' of Governor Scott, and that the good sense exhibited by Wilder may be allowed to prevail."
