BBYAN, PBESXDIKC,.-The circuit session of this court was to have been held at the Club House yesterday, but in consequence ol m disposition of lae jui ge, the jurors wete discharged until Thurs? day._ THE AGBI COL TUB AL CONVENTION.-Mr. Wright, of '.he Nickerson House, Columbia, has oflered te aecommodate delegates to the Apicultura1 Convention at halt fare, and to give the use of his large hall, free of charge, for the deliberations of the body. This is sensible and praiseworthy liberality. Dingy looking booses aro being touched np and repaired, modifications to snit the requirements of the times are being made, and several fine new resd-mces and warehouse* aro in contemplation or actually build? ing. Decidedly, Charleston is looking up. ATTEMPT AT BURGLARY.-An attempt was made on fcunday morning last to break into the paint and oil store of Douglass k Miller, corner ol last Bay and Boyce A Co.'s Wharf, One of tho shut tar? was forced open, but the burglar did not succeed ar.y further, having, doubtless, been fright? ened off by the br llb an cy of the municipal s (ai 3 on that "beat," or by the approach of daylight. Thesj Furs have been characterized by an orderly deportment and strict regard for proprie, ty. We hope that they will be very successful. THE THEATRE.-The emotional drama of | Camille was put upon the boards last night by Tem? pleton in a manner that won tho commendation of j the audience. It was somewhat a relief from the | melange of the operetta, which has boen presented for the past few tights, and gave entire satisfaction to tfcoae present Alice Vane, as CamiU?, showed the possession of much histrionic talent, and in the varied phases of the character, was equal in earnest? ness and truthful portrayal to its requirements. To? night, the last nh-ht, "Fairy and the Beauty." THE SCH UTZENPJWT-A GALA TIME EXPECT? ED.-At a meeting of Ihe German Riffe Club, held a few nigh ti ago, it was unanimously resolved to invite the New York, New Jersey and Washington Clubs to visit Charles?. on the occisi?n of the May festival of thc Club, and partake of that whole-souled hospi? tality which their brethren of this city are so able and ready to dispense. The invitations will most probably be accepted, and the celebration will be one of the liveliest ever known in the history of the Club. THE SEA ISLAND COTTON CROP-DAMAGING FROST.-It would seem that the ill luck which has so long attended the efforts of the planters of long cotton to regain something ot tb? ir former affluence and comfort, and to restore the prosperity of tbe sea islands, clings to them still. A letter dated the 6th instant, from a well known plauter on fcdist" Island, was received last evening in wh'ch the writer says: "1 here was a heavy fro't this morning, which dasi ed tho hopes of all the early planters. I had two thirds of my crop up, which will have to be replant? ed. This will throw us ba?k about one month." Wc regret to learn that accounts of similar tenor have been received from several other of the neighboring islands. A DIABOLICAL OUTRAGE.- On Friday eve? ning last, beiweor. six and seven o'clock, a colored man, who represented himself to bo a policeman, arrested a little white girl about eleven years.of age, in the upper wards, telling her that, in consequence of her being out so late, she ou-mt to be taken to the Guardhouse, but that as thia would involve too much time and trouble, besides costing 25, he wou'd take her to bis home for? Bafckccting. AS soon as he put hands upon her <ho child screamed Violently. Still he persisted in his design, and car? ried ber as fara?, the corner of Line and Rutledge streets, where Hie child again shrieked and scream? ed. This attracted the attention of some persons in tie vicinity, who came to her rescue. Ia: scoundrel fled at once and cou'd not be identifie I or captured. Tho chid was in a dreadful stats of ner? vousness from the terrible fright ?he had received, and, unfortunately, cannot sufficiently descrioe the villain to give any hope of his detection and punish? ment r% This- alarming occurrence should serve to show women and children the danger of being out after dark without some male protector. There is such a thins as a man's being too mean to comp' ehend his obligations to a community and a people to whom he QWPJJ his ?levai 1 n to office and pia' e. In a con? versation with him on the bill to validate the city elecUin, I suggested t him the possibility of a collis? ion, ana tbe ?afferme of tbe poor colored people, who wou d be the greatest suflVr^rs in cate of such an event. I felt that if Mr. Corbin felt thus careless about life and the poor, and had ii.tie symiathy, such aa be ex? pressed, that surely he did not have much regard for them. SARSAPARILLA, FOR PURIFYING THE BLOOD. THE REPUTATION this excellont medicine on jovs, ls derived from its cures, many of which are truly marvellous. Invete? rate cases of Scro.'ulous disease, whero thc system seemed saturated with corruption, have keen po titled and cured by it. Scrofulous affections and disorders, whicL were og. grava*ed by tho scrofu? lous contamination until they were painfully afflicting, have been radical y j cured in such great number* in ainu it every section . of the country, that the oublie scarcely need to bc informed of its virtues or use-. Scrofulous poison U one of the most destructive enemies of our race. Often this unseen and unfelt tenant of the organism undermines the constitution, and Invites the attack ot enfeebling or ta tal diseases, without exciting a suspiciou of its presence. Again, it seems to breed infection through tuc body, and then, on some favorable oceai-ion, rapidly develops into one or other ol tts hideous forms, cither on the surface or among the vitals. In tho latter, tubercles may oe suddenly d-posited In thc lungs or heart, or tumors formed in the liver, or it shows it J presence by eruptions on the skin, or foul ulcerations on some part of the body. Hence the occasional use of a bottle of this SARSAPARILLA is auvisable, even when no active symptoms of disease appear. Per? sons afiliete with thcfohowing complaint* generally find imn ediato relief, and, at length, cure by the use of this SARSAPARILLA: St. Anthon?'s Fire, Rose or Erysipelas, Tetter, Salt Rheum, Scald Head, Ring Worm, -oro lyes, Soro Hors, and o?herorup tlnns or visible forms of Scrofulous difojst*. Also, lu the more concealed forms, as Dyspepsia, Dropsy, Heart Di oa*o, ?'its, Epilepsy, Neuralgiu. and tho va? rious ulcerous affection? of the muscular and ner? vous systems. .-yphiiii or Venereal aud Mercurial Diseases arc cured by it, though a long limo is required for su'i dutn? these obstinate uialadi s by aiy medicine.
