MAB ONTO LzcruxE.-A large number of thc Mr. ionio Fraternity assembled last oventng at Ma senlo Hall, where it had been announced a lecturt wonld be delivered on the principles <f Masonry hy Brother N. Levin, P. M.. of Friendship Lodge No. 9. After referring to the various opinions of Masonic writers relative to tho antiquity of the order, and demonstrating some of them as cited in b?blica texts, from the earliest history of creation, t: e lac rorer pioceeded to descant upon the three greal tenets ot a Mason's profession, "Brotherly Love, Belief and Truth." and illustrated these Masonic principles in a forcible and eloquent style. The fol? lowing extract from the lecture will commend itself not only to the consideration of the members of the craft, but to all men: No Al?ronle community can prosper that allows its poor lo suffer ; lt idleness be the canse, lt ls oar duty as Masons to reclaim the idle, not destroy them. It vice, passion, sensuality, or weakness be the cause, it is still the interest us well as tb - duty of Masons to reform tbe erring, and to enlighten the ignoran', to strengthen the feeble and to sustain tb ose who totter and fall without hope. Masonic relief bas no charity in it that doe s not look with in il ul gen t eyes upon the infirmities of our nature. It is the weak, and not th? strong, that we must uphold; it is the vicious we must ?eclaim, not the virtuous. True masonic charity teaches us never to iv b?ke those who suffer from their errors, but to pour L ind ness into their wounds, and lead them gently back to tho temple ol virtue, Lom which in an evij hour they strayed. The lecture was warmly received and commanded marked attention, and we undera and it is the inten? tion of the Lodge to order its publication, after pruning it of those parts which can only be revealed to brethren of tho mys.ic tie.
