Aiken ls crowded to overflowing, and it is fair to estimato that twenty-five inva ids are turned off daily, owing to want of accommodation. Mr. J. C. Derby, the New York publ sher, haa issued a pamphlet entitled "Aiken and Vicini'y-A desirable location for.<actual settlers," Betting forth in a clear and terse u annor the advantages which it possesses as to location, climate aud soil. Mc. Derby purchased in 1867 the extensive orchard or fruit farm ot Mr. Marley, und his family have resided thera most of tbe time since the fall of th?* year. If it were a fashionable way of ex? pressing mourning now-a-daye, Leslie would have torn h.a hair, put on sackcloth, and rolled in the ashes. As it was, however, he only blasphemed, tore up his census papers and hugged tbe well known clerk of the Senate nearly to death.
