SEC. G. All peraons claiming- exemption shall file a written statement ol the same, verified by affidavit, in tho office of tho town clerk of tho township in which ho resides, on or beforo the fifteenth day of January, in default of which such person shall loso tho uenefit of such exemption, except ?such as arc especially exempt cl by this actor b>' act of Congress. SEC. 7. Tho person making such enrollment shall, thereupon, if such porsm bc exempt ac? cording t:> law, mark tho word "exemDi." oppo? site tho name of ouch pert-on presenting such exemption; it such exemption bo permanent, tue name ul such person shall nob be included in any subsequent enrollment. If any person shall swear falsely in such affidavit, he shall, upon proot thoiODf, be adjudged guilty ot per? jury in any judicial court of competent juris? diction. SEC. 8. If auy officer charged with any duty under thc provisions ot t?ia act, shall refusa or neglect to perform any of the duties requir? ed of him by this act, he shall forfeit .iud pay the sum of not hrs than fifty nor more tbau one honored dol?ate tor each aud every cue ico. to bo recovered in thc ntmo of tho people of tho State of South Carolina; and such officers shall, as au additional penalty, be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor; aud it shall hu tho duty of the Solicitor of thc Judicial Circuit within which said offender resides upon the complaint of the commanding officer ol' the regiment, or on tho (.art of the Boatd of Coun? ty Commissioners, to prosecuto tho same. Any penalty incurred and paid, or collected under this section shall bc paid into tho treasury of tho county, for tho uso of the military fund of the county where tho fi.nd maj have accrued. SEO. 10. SEO. 14. The arms, equipments and muni? tions of the State shah bo stored under the di? rections of the Commander-in-chief, and in such places as he may designate. SEO. 15. All general officers of the militia shall be appointed and oommissionod by the Governor. They shall draw pay only when engaged in aotual service.. SEO. 16. All commissioned officers of the militia shall be appointed aud commissioned by the Commander-in-chief, aud may be re? moved from office, ou recommendation by the commanding officer ot their respectivo bri? gades and divisions. Removal may also bo mudo by decision of a court-martial or retiring or examination board, pursuant 'o la v, and for misconduct any officer may be suspended by the Comnnnder-iD-obiof. SEC. 17. Tho militia of this State shall be mustered and drilled at such limos as the Cotumander-in-ohief or commanding officers of divisions, brigades and regiments may direct.
