The vTaeliington Light lufantry Charitable Association, celebrated their third anniversiry last eveuing, by public exercises at thc Central Presby? terian Church, and a society su riper at Masonic Hall. Notwithstanding the unpropitious weather, the church at the appointed hour was filled with the beauty aud fashion of the city. Tho exercises were opeucd with praytr by the Rev. W. C. At the concludion of the reading of the ode, Rev. J. L. Girardcau pronounced the ora ion, taking as his subject. Charity. Avoiding generalities and ab? stractions, and tLo trite reflections which usually form the ttock of charity discourses, he brongbt the attention of his audience to the sufferine condition of the seaboard of South Carolina as compared with its flourishing condition before the war. He suid tally that this was a subject ot immediate interest to h<s audience, and one moro particularly connect? ed w^th the object" of the association whose anni? versary was the ocasi?n of tho. celebratioj. At a meeting of a contraittoc of thc Washington Light Infantry Charitable Association, yesterday afternoon, it wa? determined to erect a monument to the dead of the various Confederate companies that sprung from thc old Washington Light Infan? try, and to hold a fair in May to aid thc society in that and their general charitable purposes. Two designs of a monument were submitted by Mr. W. T. White, an old member ot the corps, bolh very handsome. One is for a monument thirty teot hi"h, of pure white marble, in three parts: 1. A tase of successive blocks, of dimini-hin:? 6?ze, tormiug slops all around; 2. Ihree tablets for the dead re? spectively of f ompiuy A, Ihe Hampton Legion, aud Company B: Above these tablets thc words "Ber? muda Hundreds," in large letters, and.below them "Weldou Railroad," ..Manassas"and "Fort Fisher;" J.
