COTTON-Is in fair demand and market firm ; sales of 128 bales at 27a28% cts, closing steady at a basis of 28 eta for middling. Savannah Market. COTTON-At the close of our last remarks, we no? ticed a want of confidence on the part of buyers, while holders were firm and showed no disposition to con ede to the demand unless at full prices. This state of things existed until the afternoon of the 12th, when a brisk inquiry induced holders to be more firm, suspecting that better news had been re? ceived. This supposition was confirmed, for early in the morning of the 13 th, buyers were out taking freely such lots as were offered, and paying full i prices for them, the market being swept of all offer? ing eto~k unlimited. On the last day of oar obser? vation, the staple contin?es to be in fair demand, holders exhibiting a strong fnnt, and operators taking hold only when a lot is offered comparatively cheap. The offering Btock is very light and com? posed mostly ot the good ordinary and low middling qualities; the demand ip principally for the middling and low meddling graces, and in consequence ot their sea. eness realize higher prices. SEA ISLAND-The demand for the past week bas been much better than at any other time during the season, with fuller prices. This continued until the noon dispatch from Now York w-s received, showing an advance of %c in that market causing buyers to act more promptly, taking almost every lot offered.
