TO FRAME A STATE CONSTITUTION FOR 80?TH CAROLINA. The convention yesterday assembled at half past 10 o'clock, and was opened with prayer by Joseph H. Rainey, colored. The roll was c.'led and the journal read. P. J. Coghlan, of Sumter, received leave of j absence for one day. R. B. Elliott, of Edge field, and T. J. Robertson, of Richland, were appointed on the Auditing Committee. The President announced a caucus meeting tor this evening. G. W. Dill offered a resolution that the President be authorized to draw from the treasury a sufficient amount to pay the mileage of tho members on Saturday. After some dis? cussion it was laid on the table. Unfinished business being next in order, the consideration of section 23 was resumed. The section is as follows : Treason against the State shall consist in levying war against the same, or in adhering to its enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No parson shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to tho same overt act, or on confession in open court. The motion of E. W. M. Mackey to have this section stricken from the Bill of Rights, was pending at the adjournment on Monday. After some discussion, the ayes and noes were called, the vote resulting as follows : 80 ayes to 26 noes. Mr. Niles G. Parker said it was well known that a sum of money had arrived, and that it was ready to bo paid to the members. He moved an immediate adjournment for this pur? pose. This waa voted down, and E. W. M. Mackey moved an amendment, that the con? vention adjourn at 12? o'clock. He saw no rea? son why the absence of thc chairman of the Finance Committee and the President should compel an adjournment; he thought the busi? ness of the convention could be carried on without these officers. The vote being taken, the amendment was lost. Mr. Parker then moved an adjournment at 11$ o'clock, as this was the hour appointed for the President to count the money. This mo? tion was carried almost unanimously. The opposition were easily satisfied when they found that tho sum of $30,000 was await? ing them at headquarters. Smiles illumined their countenances, and visions of Bill? Receiv? able danced before their eyes. They departed in the greatest good humor, to reassemble at 3 o'clock, when the per diem would be forth? coming._ THE THEATRE.-The clerk of the weather has put his interdict upon all out-door amuse? ments for the past few days. Though we know the milk of human kindness does not flow in his breast, still it was thought that his pluvial attentions to the sublunatics were en? tirely too strong. Notwithstanding this com? bination of the elements, the Temple tons pre? sented last night the fine play of Fanchon, which was admirably rendered by the troupe. The length of the play precluded any after? piece, but the audience were amply compen? sated by the fund of humor that WSB apparent throughout the performance. A new play will be presented to-night. ING THE END OF ALL THINGS-Are made by religious enthusiasts; aud. on thc other hand, phi? losophers insist that the centre of thc Earth ls a mass of fire-that tho poles of tho Earth will one day bo at thc Equator, and that the Sun is gradually fading. Talk like this is very terrible; but, pending such wholesale calamities, it will be as well for each mem? ber of society to take care of his or her health, and leave the rest to Providence. The end comes prematurely to all who neglect the preservation of that inestimable blo-smg. Suffer liver disease, dyspepsia, chronic constipation or any other ailment to take its course unchecked, and it will assuredly shorten life. It cannot be said that the means of protecting thc systom against the pre? disposing causes of disease aro withheld.
