In Troy, New York, there ?B a stove foundry, on the same system, and in Rochester there is the Equitable Co-operative Foundry, which has turned out seventy-nine tous of stove casting in one month. There are, also, in New York City several co-operative building associations which are rapidly becoming wealthy. England has the co-operative principle in nearly every possible variety. Thero are co? operative societies for the tale of dry goods, boots, shoes; cloven flour mills; a wire fao tory, a shuttle factory, and a cotton factory. In additioo to these, there are hundreds of eo oieties for aiding tho members when sick, known as Friendly and Benefit Societies. Thc entire friendly societies of Great Britain pos? sess a reserve fund of $1-10.000, OOO; and their annual income cannot be !e.-s than $30,000,000. Tue two largest benevolent orders, the Odd Fellows aud Foresters, have securely invested more than 825,000,000. Tho Building and Freehold Land Societies ure another mode, and a very beaeficial one, in which the savings of the iudustrial classes become coined imo valu ible property. Like tho co operativo stores, capital US', d by these organizations brings back its profit to those dirccily interested, und does not go to ewell the coffers of those who oppose every step forward taken by the working mus? ses. These are faots and figures cuough to ?how what can be done by prorer co-operation. It is the old fable of the bundle of etioks. White the laboring ciassos act as individ?ala they have no power, but, when they unite for legiti? mate purposes, they eau wield a power to which that of ordiuary capitalists must bow. By tho co operative principio tba honest and hard? working mau can pr?vido for his family, pro 'ide for his support in case of sickness, and provide, at a little over cost, for all tbs wants and necessities of lifo. If his society or store does make a profit out of the Btaa'.l difference betweea actual cost and belling price, thc profit of the store or society is no less to him. It goe6 to increase capital, and ia that capital ho has aa interest and proprietary share.
