There haa certainly been no feverish I mah of purehae ra; but there has been an increasing de I maud for all styles of seasonable gooda, which will doubt I leas continue to increase during the next six weeks. We I do not think there ls likely to be any falling off in pnces I during the season, for, while money remains so buoyant I aa it does now, there can be no necessity for forcing sales, I and purchasers, owing to the abundant harvests, are in I muon better condition to supply themselves with the I goods which prosperity renders necessary to the great I mass of our people. The commercial results of emand I pallon are only now beginning to be manifest I The absence of a great number of impoverished South I emera, whose luxurious babita were a moat profitable I source to our importers and manufacturers, made a great I void in our markets; but their place will be more than I supplied by the ten-fold greater demand irom the eman I cipa ted blacks. New and tasty I styles, of course, receive most attention. Ginghams of I the better qualities are In good demand, but the inferior I grades an neglected. I The exhibition of American shawls this season is un I usually attractive ; tile demand for this lund of goods is I largely on the Increase, and better prices are realized. In foreign goods there is not much change since our last report. The importation fora the last week have been large, but no t quite equal to the importations of last season. Fancy Cassim eres and the fine qualities of Cloaking are In good demand, and plain Silks are held firmly. The choice styles of dress goods, of which the supply is < large and the accumulation in bond nearly equal to bet year's stock, are in moderate demand, the season not being sufficiently advanced for a lively trade in these styles. The trade quotations, as uttered by Spencer, are somewhat different; but, ss I think, nether are perfect but as near right as circumstances permit Dealers may consider last quotations as safe guide, with a tendency in their favor of their immediate classes. Stocks remaining bare and at Matanzas equal to 262,135 boxes and 2828 hhds, against, for same period of 1666, 357,418 boxes and 6384 hhds.
