TBS ARTESIAN Winn.-Our indefatigable friend, Major WILTON, is still boring at fte Artesian Wall, and though he had many difficulties to contend with, he feels confident that fte consummation most devoutly wished for-a plentiful supply of water-will soon be obtained. He bas been labor? ing for some time to extricate fte bucket which is lodged at fte bottom of fte well, but so far bis efforts have bean futile. In endeavoring to reach the bucket, several poles have become detached, and have also lodged in fte well. Major WILTON is now making preparations to remove these, and he will then be enabled to reach fte bucket. The well is now over 1200 feet, and it is anticipated that when it reach ea fte depth of 1800 feet a flow of water will be obtained that will be amply sufficient to supply both fte city and private houses. Major WILTON is confident that when the bucket is once removed, it will be comparatively an easy task to complete fte boring, and there will be then no impediment in fte way to prevent fte full flow of fte water. A number of baft rooins have been fitted up on fte well grounds, and pleasant bafts can now be obtained at reasonable rates. The water is soft and of an agreeable temperature, and fte b?>*h rooms promise to be, in time, one of fte ?uu -u tions of Charleston. At present they are decidedly more useful than ornamental, but give a promiao of fte good things to como, and are a step toward that perfect state to be produced by our recon? struction. For many years the Press of the country has chroni? cled the beneficial effects of HOSTETTER'S STOMACH BITTERS. Editors, authors, physicians, merchants, officers of the army and navy, chemists, counsellors, ministers of the gospel, in short, a great cloud of witness? es of every profession, trade and calling, have testified to its efficacy aa a tonic and regulating medicine. The names and statements of these witnesses have been pub? lished tn the public prints. Many of them are weU known to the whole public. Their testimony has never been challenged or impugned. This OLD FRIEND has been tried and pronounced, on the authority of those whose Uves and health it has preserved, a pure, harmless and eminently salutary prepara ti ca.
