E. r. MEYNAB ca, Pas tor of Trinity Methodist Church, reich was certainly one of the meet forcible and ?nvin.in; religious discourses that we have ever is tened to. The Reverend gentleman beemed filed with the power and importance of the occa? sion, and preached directly to the young men, and rom the earnestness of his manner, and the cl ear? le as of his application of divine truths, seemed o carry conviction to the minds of all his hearers, such plain, practical, earnest sermons are the very dud that ar J wanted at this time, and we are not iurprised to hear that the officers and members ol he Association feel deeply grateful to Mr. MET ; ARD IE for the discourse. If we might venture to suggest an idea to those ainistere who preach before this Association, t would be to be particularly careful on snch oo ?sions to preach the plainest, simplest, and ilearest truth of Scripture doctrine, suoh as can ?e understood by all their hearers, and not favor heir audience with lengthy, metaphysical die curses uron abstract subjects, which only tend to aistify and bewilder the listeners, especially the ounger portion, and, also, to scrupulously avoid ny thing like a sectarian discourse, as we know rom careful observation, that many persons at? oad these service? under the auspices of the .cung Men's Christian Association who never ttend any church.
