NEW ORLEANS, Juno 19.-COTTON-Tho market has
relapsod Into its previous dullness, and the sales to-day
were confined to 660 bales, taken by four brokors, at
about yesterday's pricoa. There was lomo inquiry at
lowor ratea, but factors were quito Btrlngent in their
pretensions, and unwilling to mako any concessions.
The sales for the three days sum up 3000 bales, take
mostly for tho North. The advance in foreign exchango
yesterday elicited some little Inquiry for export, but
the unfavorable reaction to-day has chocked the' de
mand. We continue to quote ordinary at 29 to 30 cents,
good ordinary at 32 to 34 cents, low middling at 36 to 33
oenta, and middling at 40 to - cents. The receipts pro
per since Friday evening (exclusive of the arrivals from
mobile, Florida, and Toxas, which are Included in thoir
respectiva statements), embrace 2296 bales, against 2060
during tho corresponding period last week, shnwlng an
increase of 246 baleB. The export? embrace 3953 biles
all coaMwise.

ceipts from the coast slnoe yesterday. The supply of
the prod-relions of Louisiana is small, but that of the
foreign production is liberal. Thoro is scarcely any de
mand, however, and the market is about at a standstill,
With only a small retail businesa doing in sugar.
A lot of 200 boxes No. 12 Cuba Sugar, refinery, sold at
13c %.> lb. Prices of Ouba Sugar have advanced l@2c
V lb, but only a few amall retail sales have been made.
There is nothing doing in Molasses, though purchases
might be m ado ny tbe cargo at 66o $ gallon.

wise, but iorolgn freights continue very dull. The rates
axe lo por lb for Cotton and 80o per bbl for Flour by
steam for New York and Boston, and y.o per th and 60c
per bbl by sail. The rates for Liverpool are >?d per lb
tar cotton by sail, and lo for Havre.
Memphis Market.
M Eil THIS, Juno 21.-Cotton is held here with tena
city, while buyers will not give 35 or 36, as they hope
for nowa of a Europein decline, the Bulla prediot a rise,
and the Bears can't see it. We still adhere to our pro
position, that if tho next steamers bring news of peace,
King Cotton is temporarily dethroned, and filthy lucre
Is dead; but If the tocin ol war reverberates o<cr the
Continent, Gold and Cotton " go up," in spite of Bears
-or any other Influence. We learned of salos of a fow
bales of Middling at 34o, and repacked at 20c. The
market is unsettlod, and holders are holding firm in an
ticipation of an advance. The New York dispatches re
ported Cotton dull and nominal at 38 to 40c. We emit
our quotations, aa we had no market yosterday sufficient
to frame a scale of prices.

no transactions to report from first banda for the past
two weeks. The only sale since our last review, was 150

Fi.oun-Receipts are light, particularly of fresh
ground; tbo demand, however, has been limited chiefly
to the wants of local trad J and prices steadily main
tained. Of Howard street and Onto descriptions there
la very little in the market, and quotations are mostly

QUAIN-Harvesting of the wheat crop has already
commenced on the Entern bhore, and with encourag
ing advices with regard to the yield; In other portions
of the State the cutting will bo later. With the excep
tion of the northern part of Baltimore county the ad
vices continuo promising. The supply of wheat in the
market the past week was unusually small, and im
fi.-ovod prices realized by holders. Corn has also been
D limited receipt, and prices further advanced 7@8c In
white, and C@7c in yellow. Oats have ruled dall, par
ticularly for heavy Western, which are In good supply.

The President has approved tbe bill to regulate and
secure the safo-keoplng of pnblio money intrusted to
disbursing officers of the United 8totes. It is made their
duty to deposit with the Treasury or assistant treasu
rer? money entrusted to them for disbursement, and to
draw from the same only as funds are required for pay
ments to be modo in pursuance of law, a violation of
which and the use of the public money for private ad
vantage aro to be punished by fine and imprisonment.

to 66o for shipping, and 70 to 76c for retail lots.
HEMP. - M nilla ia dull at 8_ to 9c, gold. Other kinds
are Inactive and nominal.
HONET-Is dull at 83 to 84c for Cuba, gold, duty paid.
HOPS-are firm and In good demand for home use.
We quote at from 20 to 40 and 70c, as to growth and
quality.
L ?TUB.-Eastern are firm and in good demand at 94,
3 months.
LIME -Rockland is firm and in demand at 91 60 for
common, and $1 for lump.

NAVAL STOUES.-Spirits of turpentine is dull at 87 to

transactions are light. We quote at about lix to 13c

WHISKEY-Tho market is dull and nominal at 2 25 to
$2 25}, for State, and 2 26 to $2 26_ for western.
DBT GOODS.-Prices have generally advanced for all
goods, under the dlroot influence of the great advance
in gold and cotton. The low-price cotton brown heavy
sheeting? have been brought up. Prloea will for the
prosontbe governed by the price of gold. The .mand
for conaumptlon Is not large Prints ara active tor con
sumption aa well aa for speculation to hoi i, at higher
prices. Outaide dealers are In the market from all parts
of the country. Ginghams tv o very active and buoyant

traveling goods. The stocks are too large to be much
affected ?,y the rise in gold at present. AlpacaB being

will continue, and consequently that the advance In
gold will not be speedily lo? t, so tbat speculation Is at a
halt, especially as stocks of foreign goods are heavy.
Prices are, however, steadv, and very little activity of
dornend would cause an advance. The imports . f dry
