THE COLLECIE LECTURES.-We call attention to the notice announcing that Professor PORCHER will leoture to-night on MILTON. The Professor has a fine themo, and wo fool assured his culti vated taste and well stored mind will offer a rich repast to his auditors. BOARD OF TRADE.-In our report yesterday of the proceedings of the Speoial Meeting of thisbody, on Saturday evening last, a slight mistako oc curs. We said that the letters of application were laid on the table, whereas we Bhould have said their consideration was postponed to the next re gular meeting of the Board. AT I. S. K. CLJTH BOLT-INO.-Quito, a lively and exciting race took place in Meeting-street yesterday, at about 11 o'clock A.M. between a colored gentle man, accompanied by a large roll of bolting cloth, and a number of white persons, not similarly en cumbered, and who accordingly bolted after the bolting negro and cloth at a high speed. On ward they sped-away they fled, pursuers and pursued-till the darkey, arriving at the corner of Burns' Lane, dropped and lost tho cloth, and we dropped and lost sight of the negro. LADIES' ASSOCIATION.-A mooting of the "Ladies, Association to Commemorate the Confederate Dead" was held last evening at tho Masonic Hall, corner of King and Wentworth streets. The Rev. Mr. BOWMAN opened the meeting by reading the twelfth chapter of Isaiah, and prayer. The Rev. gentleman then read the minutes of last meeting. The Rev. Mr. WIGHTMAN read the Constitu tion, and submitted the different articles, which was unanimously adopted. The report of the Treasurer was then read. The following ladies have paid in the amounts attached to their respective names : Mrs J. OILMAN offered the following resolution, which was unanimously passed: Resolved, That the pastors of the various churches of the city be, and aro rtereby, request ed to invite the ladies of their respective congre gations, from their pulpits, to strew flowers on the graves of the Confederate doad, in the private church-yards within the precincts of the city, on the 16th June. The President was authorized to select a com mittee of gentlemen to assist the ladies in their arduous duties on the same day. THE FAIR.-Wo have so ropeatodly spoken of the Trinity Church Ladies* Fair, now being held at Hibornian Hall, that wo find it no easy task yet to write again on the samo theme, without repeating what we have said alroady. In fact we have to bid farowoll to originality, and take another fair start along the same routo. The tableaux were good, and delighted all, both great and UM- Little Red Riding Hood was very popular with all but the poor little creature her "ir, who was no little frightened at the grin ping wolf on the one hand, and the gap ing orowd on the other. The little fair curly-headed sleeping babe in ??Tho Orphan Family" behaved well, and certainly looked charming. Bat it waa not of the tableaux we woraabout to ?speak, but of a dilTeront feature of the Fair, viz : the fare at tho refreshment tables. Wo enjoyed tho hospitalities of Mrs. WBITNBI ; and not devoid of tasto ourselves, wo were in a position to appreciate tho woll-diroctod andnraUi farioua efforts of our eatimable hoatesa. Tho proprietor of the atoro aaid that half-a-doxon pair of etockinga were missing, also eomo needles and whalebone. The store wa? not ontcrod; only the window opened and n0? d; had the parties arrested. The policeman station ed near neither Baw nor hoard anything of tho window being broken open. Witness followed him; defoudant dropped tho shoes; witness did not stop to pick np the shoes, but followed him, and captured bim in Archdalo-strcet; brought bim back, picked np tho shoes, and carried defendant to tho Guard House. 8. BUTOHNEI?, employed in tho samo store, cor roborated tho testimony of tho last named witnosa. Found guilty, and ordered to 30 days' hard labor on tho streotB. U. S. us. Charles Richardson and John Coll ios. Assault_W_. I-FFEiiMAN, sworn, aaid thal on yesterday, about 4 o'clock, some ten negroes carne into his store; one of them took a piero of moat and ran away. His shop is at the corner of Wash ington and Calhoun streets. Ho waa in his store alone at this time; made attempt to follow the thief, but returned to his store, when the others went iuto the street. Witness Chargen thom with complicity. Collins came np with a briok. Wit ness had a knife in his hand, and told Collina that if ho flung the brick at bim, he [witnesB] would fling the knife at bim [Collina]. Collina also had a pocket knife in hia hand. The police arrested Collins, and on their way saw Richardson, who looked like the person who stole the meat. Not guilty, and ordered to bo diachajged. MONDAY, May 28,-U. S. vs. HENIIT ROBIRBOM: Obtaining gooda under falae pretences and larce ny.-JOHN ?SIMONS, white, sworn aaya that on or about tbe ISth of March Iaat one Nonius came to the store of STRAUSS & Co.'to purohaae gooda. He purchaaed ISO worth of gooda ; stated that he would call back later ia the day, and say what disposition be would make of them. A few mo ments after defendant carne in, saying that he bad come for a gentleman's bundle. Witness asked bim the name of the gentleman who aent him; de. fondant could not tell ; told defendant to bring an order for the goods, and he could have them. De fendant left, and after a few moments returned with an order signed iu the name of Nonius. The goods wero delivered on the order. Later in the day Mr. Nonius returned for his gooda, and stated that the order was a forgery. Ou Saturday last the dofendant oamo into the atore with a note, purporting to contain $55, and asked a receipt for it. No money waa in the note. He aaid that a gentleman at the corner of Coming .and Spring streets bad given him tho note. On being further questioned, ho aaid that he picked the note up at the Postofiice ; had bim arrested ; recognized him as the boy who got the gooda bought by Nonius. There waB only one bundle in the store to be delivered at the time. The de fendant called for Mr. Nonius' bundle. Sentenced to be imprisoned for thirty daye at hard labor in tho streets. Tho next case was ono of alleged horae stealing -a long story, very complicated, and intensely uninteresting. We loft before the case was de cided. COMMITTED S?ioiDE.-Tho Mobilo Tribune of tho 17th'saya an iuqueat waa held by the Coroner yeatorday upon the body of one Albert Lowndes Drayton, late a Confederate soldier, who waa found dead at Choctaw Point battery, within twentv feet of the water's edge. Deceaaed waa well dreaaed in a Confederate gray frock coat. vest aud panta, and had letters ami p&pora about bia person, which fully identified bim. By his Bide was a copy of Mr. A. Girard'a laat publication and an empty vial labelled "laudanum." The body bore no marks of violence. When last seen -on Saturday laat-deceaaed made an appoint ment to moet a friend the next day and failed to keep it, and it ia therofore probable that about this time he put an end to himself. Drayton was a abort while ainco in the employ of the Southern Express Company, and was known and highly respected. There waa no doubt in the minda of tho jury of inquest that he came to his death by his own band by taking laudannmt and they ren dered a verdict accordingly, but no cause can be assigned for it. We publish the foregoing at the desiro of friends of the unfortunate young man. We are request ed to atate, also, that if any of bia friends wish any further information, they can procuro it by addressing their inquiries to the Superintendent of the Southorn Express Company in Now Or leans.
