The supply bill has been adopted by thc Legislature, and Anderson Coun ty's tax this year will bo as follows: State purposes, live mills; constitution al school tax, three mills; ordinary County tax. three mills; past indebted ness, ono mill. Total, twelve millB. This aggregate is tho same ns last year. Mr. E. F. Geigor, who bas been em ployed as telegraph operator at tho C. & W. C. R. Kin g, ono ot* tho oldest I citizens of this section, died at tho ; homo of his son-in-law, W. lt. Davis, near Welcome Church, on Friday night, after two weeks illness of gcu eral debility consequent upon old age, ho being in his 87th year. Mr. King was a nativo of Anderson, but for tho greater part of his lifo ho lived in Pickens County. He was n man of in fluence and highly esteemed in his community. Ho was a member of Georges Creek Baptist Church, where ho will bo buried to-day .-Greenville Mews, 10th inst. Last Saturday while Mr. and Mrs. M. I-. Keys, who live near Itel ton, were on their way to Anderson (ho latter met with (t painful accident. They were riding in a buggy, and when near B roy les1 Crossing the horse got unruly amt began kicking. Mrs. Key?attempt ed to jump out of the buggy and fell, breaking both bones of her rigid leg. She was brough! to the residence of J. B. Lewis in tins eily and 1 > t s. Harris and Townsend set tho broken limb. She is now doing well, and we join her friends in w ishing her a speedy recov ery. The Cily Council of Anderson has levied a license tax of our dollar on eaeh and every boo; black in the city, and the boot blacks have retaliated by raising the price of a shine from live to tr:? cents. The "blackies" have an nounce*! i heir higher price through the columns of (lu- newspapers and there has been a run on polish and brushes bi* the sedate men of Anderson. Our friend Mr. H. T. Tu.slen bas always said thai the Anderson men got rich by wearing their trousers two inches too short. If this be the case the boot blacks certainly have tho best of the bargain.-Abbeville Medium. Court Proceedings. Tho February Term of tho Court of General Sessions for Anderson County convened Monday morning, his Honor Judge W. C. Benet presiding. Solicitor Boggs, Stenographer Aiken, Clerk Watkins and Sherill Creen waa each at his respective post of duty. Two of tho Grand Jurors failed to answer roll call, and ns his Honor stated that it was now necessary that tho full num ber, eighteen, should be present at tho organization of the Court. The vacan cies were soon lilied and the organiza tion of tlie Court completed. Solicitor Boggs presented a largo batch of in dictments, embracing various offences from larceny to murder. This being tho lirst tenn of the year, Judge Benet made a cleat and comprehensive charge to tho Grand jury, instructing them as to the several indictments handed out by the Solicitor and ns to their general duties as well. In his charge he paid some high compliments to Anderson County, her public roads and the con dition of lier affairs generally. Tho Grand Jury retired and during the day returned true bills in the fol lowing cases : State vs. W. S. Newell,murder. State vs. John T. King, incest and assault \wth intent to ravish. State vs. H. B. Aiken and S.T.Aiken, assault and battery with intent to kill and carrying concealed weapons. On Monday tho following cases wero tried : Gus La ti mer, manufacturing liquor without a permit. Not guilty. Wm. Napoleon, grand larceny. Guil ty. Sentenced to nine months on tho chaingnngor in tho penitentiary. The case of W. S. Newell, charged with murder, consumed most of tho time yesterday, aud reunited in a ver dict of not guilty. It was a clear case af self-defence. Charles Watson and James Richey plead guilty to violating the dispensary law and wero each given three months in the chain gang. J. il. Blutcher, charged with selling liquor, was tried and acquitted. During tho day tho Grand Jmy reported truo bills in tho following cases: State vs. Casper Barnum, obtaining property by false pretence. State vs. Bass Hal!, bin glary and larceny. State vs. Oscar Childrcss, assault and battery with intent to kill. State vs. .James Wood, perjury. State vs. ll. T. Morrison, Joe B. Wright ami NV. H. Hodges, burglary ind larceny. A large number of cases have been continued until the next terni, and as i consequence thc Court will conclude t* work ami adjourn to-day.
