An unfortunate and fatal accident occurred at Piedmont on the 11th inst., by "which one man was instantly killed and six others wounded, several ot them seriously. The accident took place at the new warehouse which is being built there, and was caused by the falling of the middle partition, which caught and instantly killed George Shelton, of Pelzer, one of the workmen, and wounded, more or less seriously, six others who were employ ed on the building. The Greenwood Index of the loth inst, says: "Rev. J. L. Vass' family moved this week to Belton, where they are to reside in future. Mr. Vass re cently purchased a home at that place. Mr. Vass has not made public his plans as to the future, but it is understood that h? will remain in charge of the orphanage until the meeting of the Baptist State Convention in December, when he will again tender his resigna tion as superintendent and will insist upon its acceptance."
