Sundy our pastor, Kev. .1. V. Single ton, is destined to become a great preacher, for his sermons at Lebanon for the past three or four 'iieeting days have been gems of purest ray ; yes, we term them "Howers budded on earth to bloom in heaven." May his life be prolonged that be may continue the noble work that he hus begun, and may he live to reap the fruits of his labor and sw himself highly honored for the pure life that he is living before the rising generation. Wo notice that thc senior class?t Winthrop is being highly compliment ed from nil parts ot' the Statis owing, no doubt, to tim large number it con tains, for there are about sixty-three girls in it. WY are glad to say that Septus luis a representation in this grand class in the person of Miss Lola M. Casey, who has made a record at Winthrop that we nil feel proud of. Not for thu brat time hus Miss Lola, in all the three years that she has been at Winthrop, ever been before the faculty for a single misdemeanor, and certain ly this is a record hard to excel and one that she can look buck to with pride when there are "silver thrends among the gold." Misses Ethel Welbon., Ada Casey and Eflie Richardson are three more of our Septus girls attending Winthrop and are making records that we are indeed proud of, for no doubt they will graduate with flying colors und with honor both to themselves and to their relatives and friends, who are NO deeply interested in them. Prof. W. K. Lott and Miss Alice Wakefield have just closed their school at Lebanon for tho summer vacation, and surely they have a right, to feel proud of the efficient work they have accomplished during the session. Mr. Tom llrcnzenle and his charming sister, Miss Alene, of Helton, visited the family of Mrs. S. A. Wallace last third Saturday night. Come again, friends, wc are always glad to see you. And now, Mr. Kditor. that the sweet song of the mocking bird and Dutch whippoorwill is heard once more in the land, and that the innocent little ?Ticket is master of ceremonies over the forsaken and tireless hearth, and that that glorious time has once more arrived for the young peuple to make love to each other beneath the branches of the willow we beg to give you in rhyme the Sunday situation in Septus : There is courting iu the parlor. There is courting on the lawn. There is courting from early morning 'Till after the sun is gone. The old woman she is pouting. For the boys they stay so late That she has to do thc milkiug With no ono to mind thu gate. The old man he is quarrelling. For the son a courting's gone, And he'll have to do tho feeding Unless he soon comes home. But the,old folks should well remember, And that not many years ago, The old man was courting "Bonny" . .?* And the old lady her loving beau. SWAN. G <*x1 pa* tu rage for Cowa, cheap. Atv ply to() ?.
