Simpson, of Garv?n township, in this County, died at his resi dence on last Sunday afternoon about one 'clock, after an illness of a few duys. Maj. Simpson bad led au eventful and" honored life, and was at the time of his death in the 84th year of his age. He was a native of Laurens County, and resided there until he was near fifty years of age. He served us an olllcer in the Florida war, and was at least one term State Senator from Lau rens County, After his removal to Ander ?on County, he was for three or more terms sleeted as a Representative of the District in Congress. He was always a very popu lar man, and was greatly beloved by his neighbors and friends. His death, after a life of usefulness and honor at such a ripe old age, is regretted by ill who knew him, for he was to the last "a most genial companion and a trusted coun sellor. His remains were interred in the family burying ground with Masonic hon ors on last .Monday7,* after appropriately beautiful and solemn funeral services had been performed at the residence of the de ceased, by the Rev. S. B. Jones, D. D. We have not the information necessary to a proper skettdi of Maj. Simpson's life, and therefore we would bo pleased to have some friend furnish us with a more extended biography for our next issue.
