On Monday morning last Mr. Nelson Hooper, a breakman on the freight train on the Anderson Branch and Blue Ridge Hoad, was found dead on the top of the curs when tho train reached Pendleton Factory on its return trio to Walhalla. It is supposed that Mr. Hooper was sitting on the break with his bock toward the engine, and as the train passed under Felton's bridge, four miles above town, the back of hs head I ?truck the bridge, crushing the skull. W. H. D. Gaillard, Esq., utting Coroner, held an inquest over his remains, ami a verdict found in accordance with the above fucts. The body of the deceased man was carried to Wulballa, where his people live. Wyatt Aiken, we obtain tho following in formation concerning the cereal products of this county for the year 1879 : Acres in bar ley lit, product 1,412 bushels; acres in corn, 40,053, product 492,640 bushels ; acres in oats, 12,770, product 04,013 bushels ; acres in rye, 2Ji, product 950 bushels; acres iii wbaat, 10,754, product 101,050 bushels. This showing; compares favorably with that of any county in the State, but even tb?n is nothing to boast of. From another bulletin, giving tho cotton production by counties, we see that in this comity there were Gl,0f>0 acres in cultivation, the pro duct of w hich was 21,897 bales. On Wednesday evening of lust week. 2nd instant, while Mr. und Mrs. John Eskcw accompanied by their two little boys, were returning from their plantation in 'Pendle ton township in a wagon loaded with mea and Hour, und when about a mile and r half from their home, three miles above town, their youngest hoy, Jacob Burriss six years of age, fell out ?f the wagon am was killed by one of the hind wheels pass ing over his body. At the center of tin wagon the sacks of neal and Hour wen heaped above the sides of the body, and a: the little untortunutc boy was trying ti climb from tho rear of the* wugon to when bis parents were sitting in front, he fell ou with the result above stated. The acciden occurred after dark, between seven am eight o'clock, about one-quarter of a mill this side ol Salem church, and death resul teil in ten or fifteen minutes.
