A large number of families tented on thc grounds, and the attendance on tho services wns unusually good. Wc aro pleased to learn that good order wns pre served, and that the impression mude on the minds of those present by the preach ing was excellent. Ifewi says: "Taken as a whole, we can safely sny that John Robinson deserves tue belt in liis profession, and is now exhibiting one of thc best shows in thc United States." The Lynchburg Virginian says : 't?)ld John Robinson's show yesterday was n grand success not only in point of attend ance, which was immense, but in the ex cellence, variety and completeness of the exhibition. To tell of the many wonderful animals thc fine horses and sprightly dogs, thc marvellous feats of horsemanship and gymnastics, tho witticisms of Lowlow, that prince of clowns, and countless other fea tures would lead us far beyond the limits of our 3pace. Sufficient to say that the ex hibition was one of thc best, if not thc best, that our people have yet seen, and that Old John's great show will be welcomed to Lynchburg whenever it shull como." Mn. I regret that any necessity exists for my appearing in the newspapers for tho pur pose of answering a charge circulated against mc on tho day of the late election, viz : that 1 at one time ran as nu indepen dent candidate. The charge is untrue, and I um ready to conclude that it was either conceived in malice or grew out of willful ignorance.
