We have not seen the testimony taken before the Trini Justice on thc preliminary trial, but from what we understand of it. the cuso IS one upon which Judge Lynch should have de cided if there ever was one. It is, however, h.-s; that it has been left to the law, and the fai t that the party charged is to be given his tri .1 in the Courts is a high tribute to tho law abiding disposition of our people. When a community in which such u crime lues been committed leaves thc punishment of the criminal to the laws of the land, too much cannot be said in praiseof ita citizens. Anderson is the best cotton and supply market in upper South Carolina, and the enterprise mid thrift of her business men is destined to still further extend the area of trade: which she commands. The life and progress ?if the town is displayed in thc purchase ?if tiiis ferry, which is used os un inducement to trade, lt shows the whole country thut the town has been revivified, and is deter mined to afford the very best facilities ic all who wish to buy or soil. Groceries, dry goods, clothing, hardware, furniture mid all articles of merchandise can be purchased here ns cheaply as in any surrounding market, and the quality of goods sold is re liable and satisfactory. A Deserve!! Compliment. The Ci lambin Register of last Thursday contains the following very complimentary article concerning the Anderson Theatrical Company over the signature of "Visitor." The compliment is well deserved, and we re-publish it lor tho special benefit nnd en couragement ol' those Interested in the suc cess of this enterprise: We bad thc good fortune to witness thc performance of thc first play of this Com pany after its organization. On tho night of the "1st of March, the play ".School of Reform" was rendered at the Masonic Hall, in thc presence of a lurge and Intelligent au dience. We w?-re highly entertained, -ul most happily disappointed in finding so much theatrical talent, and it so admirably adapted to the stage ami to this particular occasion. Anderson utterly astonishes! us -"there is life in tho old land yet." Each member rendered bis or her respectivo part with a remarkable degree of skill and ease. Mr. Ferment especially did himself much ?:re?lit, and undoubtedly possesses a great deal of undeveloped talent in this direction. Thu company deserves commendation for its efforts, and Anderson should not only be proud of it, hut b ud n helping hand. This is one of the innocent amusements that udds to a pille-?; life and charms. Gue; of the most attractive features of thc evening was the graceful and lovely altitude of the uetresses while upon the suige. Not onlj upon thc stage did we lind Anderson's fair ?luugbtcrs, but also harmoniously inter spersed muong thc large audience of ugly men. Already over 500 tons of fertilizers sold here, and tho cry is still for "?noro !" A few lieus arc being given, but most of them for small amounts. Ile bad eluded arrest meanwhile by staying in Georgia.At ll o'clock Saturday night a large meteor shot across the .Southern sky and exploded near thc horizon. Thc light occasioned by the transit was exceedingly brilliant.Dr. D. 9. Watson, one of thc delegates to the Union Meeting, expressed himself ns much pleased with the general appearance of the Fork country, and par ticularly with Townrillc and ita people. Thia is an appreciable compliment, inas much aa the Doctor i:> ti gentleman of very extensive observation and correct views. All agree in pronouncing the Union Meet ing, which closed on Sunday, a most enjoy able occasion. Tbs utmost harmony pre vailed in it deliberations, and large and at tentive congregations were in attendance throughout. Rev. J. C. Hudson preached the introductory sermon. Rev. J. Scott Murray was elected Moderator and Mr. L. P. Smith clerk of the body. Rers. J. C. Hudson and I. W. Wingo addressed the Sunday School on Sunday morning, after whteh Rev.
