This gives things a dull appearance just now, but it gives promise of more prosperous times next fall. Mr. E. W. Byrum brought samples of his brag wheat patch to our office on Wednes day morning, which measure over six feet in height, and aro well headed. All who have seen it pronounce it the finest patch they have seen this season. Mr. G. W. McGee, of Belton, has the finest clover patch in this section of coun try, and we expect,' from what we have seen In other counties, tbat it is tho best in tbs* State. The clover is very high, and stands close opon tho ground. There will be a meeting of Hall Demo cratic Club at the Carewell Institute on next Saturday at 2 o'clock p. m. Several speakers have boen invited for the occasion, and a full attendance of the members of tho Club, and of the citizens generally, is requested. The A'..-3erson Court House Democratic Club will meet in Masonic Hall on next Friday night at 8 o'clock. This is the regular monthly meeting, and an address will be delivered by Maj. B. F. Whltner. All of j the members of the Club are urged to be present at this meeting. Mrs. E. E. Gibson, of Itockport, Texas, arrived in Anderson on yesterday morning, and will spend several months in visiting relatives and friends in this County. Mw. Gibson is a native of this County, nr.-I re moved with her husband to the Loan Star State Boveral years before the war. One of the favorite English sports is archery, and clubs composed of ladies and gentlemen exist in most of the towns, whose object is to practice this harmless and healthy sport. Howard, which occurred in this County on the 20th of April. Tho funeral services were conducted at Cross Roads Church on the following doy by Rev. W. A. Bodges, and were attended by a large con coarse of relatives and friends, who mourn the death of the departed one. The Palmetto Riflemen have received and ?ccepted an invitation to be present at the anniversary of the Greenville Guards in .Greenville on next Tuesday, the 7th inst. The occasion will doubtless bc - mest en joyable one, and the Anderson boy? will embrace it to further cultivate the acquain tance of their Greenville friends, of whoso recent visit to'Anderson they cherish the most pleasant recollections. The freight trains on tho G. & C. It. lt., which have heretofore been running to Greenville daily, only go now tlirce times a week; so that parsons wishing to go from thia point lo Green ville can only go through on the morning* of Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
