The Next Congress.?The New York World gives a statement of the political com? plexion of the next Congress. The Senate, it says, will consist of forty-one Republicans and thirty-three Democrats and Independents. In the Senate, as it is at present constituted, the Republicans have twenty-five majority over the combined opposition. If the Democrats have but modest luck two years hence the Republi? can majority in the Senate will be completely dissipated. According to the latest returns, conceding the Republicans two of the doubtful districts and claiming the other two for the op? position, the editor makes the following party clasification of the representatives already elect? ed: Democrats 170; Independents 4, total opposition 174; Republicans 101; opposition majority73. Thereareseventeen representatives to be elected in California, Connecticut, Mis? sissippi and New Hampshire, Suites represented in the present Congress by four Democrats and thirteen Republicans. If they should return the same or others of a like political faith, the opposition would have sixty majority in the House. The Republican majority in the pres? ent House is nearly one hundred. The Vacant Judgeship.?The Columbia ^correspondent of the Charleston News and Cou? rier makes the following statement in reference to the vacancy on the bench: The contest for the judgeship of the first i circuit has not yet broken out into an active , 'canvass, although the several candidates are freelywamed. J. P. Reed, of Anderson, is a ^candidate. The name of Col. R. S. Duryea, ?nd of the Hon. Henry Buist, of Charleston, <bave also been mentioned. Whipper is a can? didate, and so is Judge Cooke. It is said that ?Cooke's plan is to elect himself judge of the ?first circuit, and then elect Mr. Reed judge of the eighth circuit, and to do this Judge Cooke expects to receive the support of the Conser? vative members from the eighth circuit. The election will probably not take place until af? ter the first of December. ? The grand jury of Vicksburg, Miss., com 5>osed of ten negroes and seven whites, has found a true bill against T. W. Cardoza, col? ored State Superintendent of Education, for forgery and embezzlement. ? The republicans could not "unload" their party, but the people have discharged it. THE MARKETS.
