CORRECTION. Some time ago- there appeared among our locals one headed "A Rash Undertaking," in which Injustice was done the gentlemen men? tioned*- This injustice was owing to our being misinformed by the gentleman who gave us the information, and we now gladly accept the opportunity of correcting the wrong which we unconscioTisly did the young gentlemen con? nected with the affair. We have been informed from very reliable sources that Mr. Hatch er, who had the-horse and buggy in charge, is a most reliable and trustworthy young man, and was never known to indulge in tho use of ar? dent spirits ; furthermore, that he was instruct? ed to cross Seneca River at the place he did as the safest point, and the accident which follow? ed" was totally beyond his power to prevent. We are very sorry that we received such an erroneous account of the accident, as appeared in bur columns a few weeks ago. ^Sn.old lady in town, the other evening, re? marked to a male friend that as the old folks were dying rapidly, the young ones marrying, the>Governor stealing, the State needed ditch? ing very bad. American Button Hole, 14,1*2. The tablo shows that sales of the Singer ex? ceed those of any other Company, for the pe? riod named, by the number of 113,2.31 Machines, or nearly double those of any other Company. It may In further stated that the sales of 1873, as compared with those of 1872, show a relatively larger increase, beyond the sales of other makers, than of any other year. For in? stance, in 1S72 we sold 45,000 Machines more than any other Company, whereas, in 1673, tho sales were 11S!,254 Machines in Excess of our Highest Competitor. Those figures are all tho more remarkable, for tho reason that the sales of the principal I Companies in 1873 are less than their sales in . 1872; whereas, as has been shown, our sales i have largely increased. The account of sales is from sworn returns made to the owners of the Sowing Machine Patents. It will hardly be denied, that the superiority of the Singer Machines is fully demonstrated.
