At a meeting of the Session of tho Anderson Presbyterian Church, held on the 13th day of j July, in the Presbyterian Church, the following resolutions in relation to the death of Ruling Elder A. O. Norris were unanimously adopt? ed: Resolved, lSt. That the death of our brother, and for many years senior counsellor in the Session and the Church, is a serious affliction to the Session, the Church and the community. As a Session, we have lost an efficient and wise counsellor, an experienced. and faithful col? league, and a respected and venerable brother. As a Church,' we have los: the example and personal influence of a faithful Christian, the true and hearty devotion of a fellow-worker, and the parental oversight and care, constant and unwearied, of a father. 2nd. Few men have maintained so much, and for so long a time, uniformity and perseverance in all the duties he owed to the Church; often honored by his brethren as their representative in the Presbytery, the Synod and the Assemblv, in which bodies he very often sat and contrib? uted, by his faithful attendance and individual counsel, to their success in deliberation. His ripeness of judgment clearness of perception and fullness of experience qualified him to fill such a position of usefulness. 3rd. It is'with pleasure we bear testimony to the liberality with which or. r late colleague em? braced all true Christians. Though he ardently loved the Presbyterian Church, aud was never willingly absent from her services, yet with fullness of charity he loved all, uniting in their i prayers and assisting iu their charities. 4th. Often entrusted by his fellow-citizens with offices of public trust and responsibility, our brother carried his Christianity with him into these duties, ever faithful and upright in tho discharge of them, and far from seeking his own aggrandizement hi public positions. Manv, r.nd especially his pocrer fellow-citizens, who have sought his official advice, have been the recipients of his generosity?too gdbd a Christian to grow rich out of the need of his fellow men. 5th. We bear testimony to his character as a steady, strong, ardent, good man, quick in opinion, positive in position, lenient to the erring, uncompromising to the wrong, tender of heart, unswerving in purpose, in religion uniform, faithful and true. 6th. As a session, wo tender our sympathies to the bereaved family, the large circle of rela? tives, tiie Church, now bereft of a father and ruler; and pray that the dispensation of afflic? tion may be overruled by a wise Providenco for future good to alL *s* A true extract from the minutes, A.
