On H-ilurday last th® Georgia House of Representatives passed bv an over whelming majority, a general local option prohibition bill for the count lea which have not already adopted pro hibition. The vote stood 111 for and only 22 against. It will pass the Sen ate without difficulty and soon be come the law of the State. The bill provides that on petition every two years elections may be held in tho'eounties where intoxica ting drinks .qre sold until the county goes for prohibition, when no more clccliom can beheld. This is a grand *ind glorious triumph for the friends pf law and order, morality, virtue and religion. It will strengthen the temperance cause throughout the entire Union, and to us, the Democratic voters of Aiken County who have already passed upon the mutter by an affirma tive vote of 318 majority, it brings the pomforting assurance that tho citizens of our sister State of Georgia are in sympathy with us. It is a grand tiling to feel the touch of the elbow from the people of tho great empire State in this one of the grandest causes that ever stirred the human heart, or excited tho brain to its best achievements. Our 318 majority has been trampled under foot uijd spurned with tho coolest and moit supreme contempt by our members of the Houm) of Representatives from this County; but the day will come when flies® gentlemen will appreciate the grave error they have committed. Thanks be to God the voice of the peop- erty and intelligence of Aiken County was heeded and respected by our Sena tor John M. Bell, for although he voted against prohibition, he yet endeavored as yur Senator by every honorable means to carry out the wishes of his Democratic constituency as expressed by their handsome majority of 318 votes; but the want of support by bis colleagues fronj this County brought defeat to his manly unci patriotic efforts. But the time will come when the Democracy of Aiken County will demonstrate ip unmistakable terms that our Senator has correctly in terpreted the voice of tho people, and that our Representatives havo substi tuted their own opinions for tho ex plicit utterances of the baljof box. No great cause was ever yet crowned wi^U victory whose advocates were fucking in tho attributes of patient courage and invincible determination. Democrats and Temperance men of Aikeu County, we urge you by nil that you bold precious in this world and in the world to come, to stand fa.-t by ycur convictions and bide yojur time with patient ?■ srVitu^c. *—^ The T mperance array is marching on, and the more it is resisted the more overwhelming wfll be its triumph. Cast your eyes arouiuj you in every neighborhood of this County and see ff you can fin I a single family that has not furnished at some timo a vic- tim in some f deni or relative to the demon of strong drink, and then turn toyoitr Representatives and demand that your majority of 313 votes be re spected. Among the many industries that have placed Augusta in the position she now holds as a manufacturing centre, is the manufacture of carriages ! buggies, wagons and harness. The duvelopements of this industry \ here have given Augusta an eviable ; notoriety among other cities and she is ' now confessed to be a popular and re liable market for the articles. The leading manufacturing concern in this line, and the one that has done most to make Augusta famous as a carriage market is the Goodyear Car riage Repository (succeeding the old house of R. II. May & Co.,) which in the face of aspiring Competition has steadfastly adhered to the determiua- j tion to turn out a first clas, finely tin- islied and serviceable vehicle at low est prices, and which in keeping up with the advance of trade and the yx- actious of these critical times has met with a degree of success that is both satisfactory and complimentary to the management of this justly popular establishment. The Goodyear Carriage Repository manufacture vehicles of all kinds, but make u specialty of line family car riages, line open and top buggies which their facilities enable them to place upon the market at lower prices than are offered by other bouses, and find ready sale owing to their uni form good quality and acknowledged excellence. All work turned out at this establishment is made under the personal supervision of Mr. Goodyear, who is a thoroughly practical man of long experience in this line of manu facturing; and his work has made for him a distinguished reputa tion, and the flattering patronage en joyed by this house is u just recogni tion of his intelligent enterprise and well directed efforts. Besides work of their own make, this house handles very extensively carriagies, buggies, harness and sadles inado specially to order by a number of other large factories who have the tiie best reputation for making first- class goods in this line in the United States and whose work Mr. Goodyear has sold in this market for many years. This house holds the agency of these large factories, and is enabled to offer greater advantages to pur chasers than offered by other houses. A visit to the Goodyear Repository will be found both pleasant and protit- able. Probate Sale. 8 TATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA! County ok Aikkn. ) Mood, in his own riuht and as Ja». R Administrator of \V.
