f>«... i&i ty of November if all wwnure op- poned to bourbon rule do their duty. G. H. Holland. County chairman. Our Grand Old Mother Calls. Yea, Carolina expects every loyal non to do hi* duty. Khe spurns Rad* icaia, Green backers and Independents as bastard sons, renegades, shyster* and tricksters, unworthy of a birth* right upon her soil and At subjects for the condemnation of the civilized world. Democrats ami brother Caro linians, our dear old mother calls upon you to rally to the rescue of her civilization and her honor, by per forming your duty at the polls on the 7th of November. We beseech you by all the hallowed associations of the past, by the glorious memories of the revolution of 177H, by thegreeu graves of her sons who fell on the plains of Mexico, by the brilliant but bitter memories of the Ix>st Cause, by her agonizing sutTerings during the period of reconstruction, by the achievements of the glorious political revolution of 187H, whereby she regained her pres tige among her sister States and re sumed her position in the army of progress, not to relax your energies untill you have rolled up the heaviest majority ever achieved by the invin cible Democracy of Aiken County. The same old enemy Radicalism is in the field, under various disguises, but actuated by the same disgraceful de signs of jobbery, robbery and ruin. Our civilization is at stake, our prop erty is in jeopardy, and the banners of i>opuIur education will be trailed in the dust, if thieves and ignorant upstarts are permitted to again obtain political ascendency in our beloved old State. We cannot afford to lose. We must triumph if we are only true to our- selves and our State, for too much is {MMident on the issue. Our mothers, wives and children demand victory at our hands us the price of their future honor, prosperity and safety, and we must not prove recreant to our respon sibilities. Let every true Democrat constitute himself a committee of one to work unceasingly from now until the 7th of Novem1*er to frustrate the plans of the enemy, and on that day we will grind them in the dust of such an ignominious defeat that they will call on the mountains to hide their shame. Daughters of Carolina do your duty by stimulating your husbands, fathers, sons and sweethearts to an unremit ted attention to duty. Democrats and sons of Carolina, forget not your alle giance to you r grand old mother, nor your own sacred honor, and the day is ours. • son, Asa E Sally.
