MEXICO AND MEXICANS
f Miscellaneous Developments Bearing
Upon Troubled Conditions.
Reports from Torreon say that General
Villa's army to go against Mexieo
City, will include 35,000 men and
75 cannon, ten of which were captured
at Saltillo with a good lot of ammunition.
The army is to be under
command of four generals selected by
J* Villa.
General Carranza has sent a message
to the border that he will allow
all claims arising from the Cambre
tunnel disaster, when SO lives were
lost: the accidental killing of any foreigners
in Mexico and for property
owned by foreigners in Mexico, and
urges the tiling of claims that they
may be paid promptly.
Large numbers of rebels are reported
to be gathering in the state of Vera
Cruz and an early clash with the Federals
in the vicinity of the city of
Vera Cruz is expected.
General Xavarette, Federal com
> ?? Inlono cave ho will attack
imuuiri ell tf(iia|>a,
the American forces the instant the
armistice ends. General Pena is quoted
as saying that he would retreat to
the mountains before an American advance,
as he has neither arms nor ammunition
sufficient to make a stand.
Convinced that the United States
will adhere strictly to the terms of the 1
armistice, the Huerta government is <
planning to immediately repair the
tracks of the Mexican railway which I
wt re destroyed by Gen. Maas in his ,
retreat from Vera Cruz.
General Bugenio Rascon, candidate
of the Catholic party for vice president
at the last election, has been "put
out of the way" in Mexico City, by order
of General Huerta, according to
refugees arriving at Vera Cruz. General
Rascon was accused of being a
party to a plot to put Huerta "out of <
the way."
Major Morales, formerly aide to
General Maas. and a naval cadet,
have been arrested by order of General
Pena, successor to Maas, and are to
be courtmartialed for shooting Pri4
vate Parks, the insane soldier of the '
United States army who wandered in- to
the Mexican lines. The major and j
cadet are merely scapegoats. General '
Maas being the really guilty party;
but he will escape the hands of juslice
because of his relation to General '
Huerta.
General Villa is reported to have in?
strutted his agents in Mexico City, to
ii i?i
% obtain tne names 01 an icaun.-i j
mobs or movements there against for- |
eigners, in order that they may be executed
as traitors if they attempt to (
bring about a condition that would necessitate
foreign intervention.
a It is persistently rumored at Vera
* Cruz that General Huerta will leave
Mexico City within the next few days, f
probably sailing from Puerto Mexico,
on board the German ship Vpiranga.

There is Only ONE Best
Every man who has ever been
talked to by a life insurance agent,
will, no doubt recall, that one of the
claims that the agent made was that
the special company he was representing
at the time, was the BEST in the
business, and issued the most liberal
contract, etc. It is a FACT that there
are a number of good companies in
business today and that most of them
issue very liberal contracts as compared
with those issued previous to
1906?before the great upheaval in
New York State, when laws were enacted
that forced all companies that
should do business in that State, to
Ouarantee in their policies what the ^
Mutual Benefit Life Insurance Com- _
pany of Newark, X. J? had been Guaranteeing
Voluntarily for Many Years 4
Previous. It Is a fact that the New ^
York law was based on the voluntary ^
practices of the Mutual Benefit and it )
did not have to change a word in Its b
contracts to comply with the law. It
has always, during the 67 years it has g
been business, been recognized as the J
leading policy holders' company, and 6
is so recognized today. It is the Best S
Company and issues the Best Policy, J
and if I cannot prove it to your satis- ?
faction after you have learned about
all the others, if you care to learn, I i
do not want your business, as I recog- "
nize the fact that the man who insures 6
in one company when he has reason
to helieve that he would have been **
better satisfied in another, has not S
done himself justice. I/>ok Before 1
