Although cotton has been quite a fancy price lately, we hardly think that our farmers will fail to make another effort to make a pood corn crop. The fine weather of the last week has afforded them an opportunity to prepare some of the soil by deep plowing. Some oats are being sown. A few days ago, Mr. J. T. Wilkerson had seven plows running all day plowing in oats. Mr. Jesse Kirby of Wilkinsville, has accepted the position of bookkeeper for Mr. C. S. Moorhead. Misses Maggie and Maud Rhine of Oastonia. Wilkerson is in town superintending the work of a beautiful twelve room building, which he is having constructed. The building will be furnished with all modern conveniences. His sewerage system is very unique. He has arranged that the water from his bath room and other departments, wherein there will be water used, will have pipes leading to a terra cotta drain, which will carry the water a considerable distance from the residence. Thg Broad River Township Teacher's association held its first meeting at the hotel at Sharon. All the teachers were present except one. There was no business of importance transacted except, that they decided to meet hereafter at Hickory Grove, as it is nearest the center of the township. Mrs. W. M.
