I To Regulate the Manner and the Means by Which Carnival Companies, and Shows of Like Kind Under Canvas May Obtain Permission to Carry on the Same Within the Limits of the R Town of Yorkville, S. C. M BE it ordained by the Mayor and Aldermen, the Town Council of ? the Town of Yorkville, S. C.: Section 1. From and after the 1 passage of this ordinance it shall be I unlawful for any carnival company, J side show, aggregation of shows, or any company engaged in giving performances or conducting merry-go rounds or other like places and kinds } of amusement either under canvas or other temporary structure to conduct said shows, merry-go rounds, or other forms of amusement within the limits of the town of Yorkville, S. C., without first obtaining the written consent and permission of at least a majority JJ of the adjacent property owners and Vs residents and filing same with the mayor or chief of police of the said **town. Sec. 2. That any person or persons, firms or corporations or managers of said shows or carnival company, violating the provisions of the foregoing section of this ordinance shall upon . conviction be subject to a fine of not t less than $5.00 nor more than $100.00 or be confined at hard labor upon the public works of the town or county for a period of not less than five days nor more than thirty days, for each and every offense, and every day of _ such operation without the consent of the property owners and residents as y aforesaid shall constitute a separate I offense. It was used alike by laymen and agents of practically every comrany except the Mutual Benefit. The laymen believed It to be true because the agents had told them so.
