of our friend, Mr. Jas. Cobb, of Smyrna, was seen on our streets. His many friends will be glr.d to learn that though he is now in his 89th year, his health is remarkably J good. Mr. Cobb was one of the first settlers in this section, and will be remembered by the men as one of the best blacksmiths that ever tapped the anvil. He was not only a smithy, but also a "Jack of ' all trades." He has been married three times and all three of his wives are now sleeping beneath the sod. For some time he was a lover of ardent spirits; but some . years ago he was converted and is now a ? tots 1 abstainer and a good, pious member ^ of the Baptist church. Some of the roads are being worked in \ this section now. Well, let the good work ^ go on. Speaking of the roads, I would again call the attention of the supervisor c to that part of the Howell's Ferrj road that has received no attention. The mat- 6 ter should be attended to at once, as the 1 road is in very bad condition, and should, by all means, receive the attention of some of our efficient overseers. t. v RUCK HILL HAPPENINGS.
