We intended to pull down this cash banner on January 1st, 1887, but it has led us so successfully for the past few months that We Cannot Desert it Now. so lor a wtiiie longer 11 wiu sun noai irum tue sign of the Mammoth. Under this flag the same inducements are still offered, and those who occasionally deviate from the credit rule, as well as the genuine DISCIPLES OF THE MONEY DOWN, Will get the full benefit of these inducements. To this cash sign and these many Bargains offered for 1887, the attention of all is politely called with the invitation to Test These Values on These Principles. ( We than* aHTBPtiUWhobave p?ld UjbIi accoiuita for 1886 and hope those who nave not will soon come the front as they have promised. We also | are grateful to all our patrons of the past year I and request a continuation for 1887. HUNTER A OATES. JNO. C. KUYKEOAL THE OLD YEAR. IMMED, faded, fled away; gone to the M_P land of shadows from whence traveler comes not back" or message sends of good or ill report. It left us, bearing the sears of terrible conflict. In its course, it saw the fair planet over which it presided, tossed and rent and torn by the giant power of an unknown and unseen force which brought death and ruin and consternation to the inhabiters of a fair land and proud city. It saw the hopes of the husbandman borne away on the flood, parched and withered by the drought, or scattered by mighty winds. It saw fortunes swept away and the patient accumulations of years grow less?but it was'nt all shadow. To many of us it gave health and strength and a measure of prosperity equal to our deserts. So it has been to the York Drug Store man who hereby makes proper acknowledgements to his patrons. Of the proudest monarch it can only be said at the last, tnat he slept with his fathers. 1886 with all its distinctions sleeps with the dead centuries, its predecessors, and 1887 reigns in its stead. Of the new year we can as yet know nothing. We congratulate ourselves and friends that we have the privilege of being able to respond to the annual roll call of the living and hope that there are good things in store fof us in the tuture, past our expectations or deservings. With best wishes for all, we are respectfully, JNO. C. KUYKENDAL. Monday ihorning January 3, 1887. W. C.~LATIMER. 1 8 8 7.
