J "VTOTICE is hereby given to all whom it may j^l concern, that at a special meeting of the.BoarU of County Commissioners for said county, held on this day, the 11th day of August, 1885, upon prop, er petition therefor* being presented, a resolution was adopted to submit to the qualified voters of Bullock's Creek Township, at an election to be held in the several election precincts in said township on the 17th day of October, 1885, the question of subscribing to the Georgetown and North Carolina Narrow Gauge Railroad Company, under its original charter and its several 'amendments, the sum of thirty-two thousand dollars, by said township, to be paid in coupon bonds of said Bullock's Creek Township of the denomination of one hundred dollars, and five hundred dollars, to be due in twenty-five years from the date of their issue ; said bonds to bear seven (7) per centum interest, payable annually at the office of the Treasurer of York county. It is hereby ordered, (tne suDscnpuon uavuig lirst been duly voted) that the said coupon bonds shall be interchangeable at par, for the stock of the sp'd within named railroad as follows: That the said Railroad Company shall lirst notify the Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners of said County of York, that the said Railroad Company has accepted the said subscription of the said township to the capital stock aforesaid ; then it shall bo the duty of the Chairman of said Board of County Commissioners, (the subscription having lirst been duly voted as aforesaid) to subscribe for said township the sum specified to-wit: Thirty-two thousand dollars ($32,000) to the capital stock of the railroad above named, and at the expense of the said township of Bullock's Creek, to have the bonds engraved, executed and deposited in a Trust Company, acceptable alike to the said Railroad Company and to the said Board of County Commissioners of York County; and thereupon the said Railroad Company shall deliver to the said Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners of York county, certificates of stock of said Railroad Company, or authenticat> ed scrip representing said stock, to the full amount of said subscription made thereon. But it is expressly provided that said bonds shall not be delivered to the said Railroad Company except in the following manner, and upon the following conditions, (until which delivery they shall not bear interest) to wit: One-half to be paid when the said road shall be completed the distance of five miles from the grossing of the said Bullock's Creek township line in its southeast course from Hickory Grove, through or in the vicinity of Blairsvilleor Hoodtown, and the remainder to be paid when said road is completed to the crossing of said Township line in a southern course from the completion point of the first five miles of said road, through, or in the vicinity of Blairsville or Hoodtown, as above mentioned ; and Provided, that the said subscription of thirty-two thousand i dollars ($32,000.00) in bonds of the township of 1 Bullock's Creek in said York county, shall be j expended in the construction of a railroad within the said township as before stated. It is also ordered that at the same election to be held as aforesaid, all those who favor the subscription upon the above proposition, shall vote on written or printed tic kets or ballots "SUBSCRIPTION"," and all opposed to said subscription shall vote on a like ballot, "NO SUBSCRIPTION." And if it shall appear from the returns of said election that a majority of the qualified voters of said township, voting at said election, have voted for subscription, then it shall be the duty of the said Board of County Commissioners to make said subscription as herein provided, and on the terms and conditions herein set forth. September 17 3S 5t ORDINANCE, Livery, Sale and Exchange Stables. BE it ordained by the Intendant and "Wardens of Yorkville, *S. C., in Council assembled, and by authority of the same: 1. That all dealers in horses and mules, and all keepers of sale and exchange Stables within the town of Yorkville, S. C., shall pay, in advance, into the hands of the Treasurer of said town, an annual license tax of TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS. 2. That all keepers of livery stables, in which horses and mules, and vehicle's are kept tor hire, or public use, shall pav, in advance, an annual license tax of TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS. 3. That all other persons in said town hiring, or keeping for hire, or public use, horses, or mules, or vehicles, shall pay, in advance, an annual license tax of FIVE DOLLARS. Provided, That horses and mules kept and hired for the exclusive purpose of ploughing gardens and patches, and hauling wood in said town, are exempt from this Ordinance. 4. That this Ordinance shall go into effect on the 1st dav of July next. All violations of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than FIVE DOLLARS, or imprisonment, not less than one day ; or both fine and imprisonment, in the discretion of the Town Council.
