Correspondence of the Yorkville Enquirer. LETTER FROM BLACK'S STATION. Black's Station, S. C., April 18.?The weather continues cold for the season, and on account of the backwardness of the spring, but little plauting has been done as yet. At this time last year corn and cotton were up, and the forest was green with newly-budded leaves. ?The aspect now is wintry. The <e snow-capped peaks of the Blue Ridge can be seen from this place, and we perceptibly feel the chilly winds constantly wafted from their icy domain. Our immediate town has been saddened by the recent deaths of Mr. Cyrus P. Raraseur and Mrs. Mary R. McMakin?the former from pneumonia, and the latter from consumption. #Mr. Ramseur was among the first settlers of our town, where he commenced business as a merchant. Coupled with his financial success, was associated a name for ?.:? sloclinrr in oil his hlloinOSB jail auu uuuui aui? u?wmu^ ** * ?* ?.? relations. Some time ago he withdrew from business and accepted a position in the service of the Air-Line Railroad Company. He was educated at Wake Forest College. When a youth, he united himself with the Baptist church. In everything he undertook he was earnest and consistent. His intelligence and Christian character made him the highest ornament to society, as was felt and shown by all the business houses of the town closing, and the citizens unitiug in rendering the funeral an occasiou of mourning. Mrs. McMakin was a native of Charleston, in which city she was reared and educated. Her maiden name was Lloyd. She spent a great portion of the latter part of her life in the up country. In her old age, she retired to her home in this county, where she died in her 74th year. The Presbyterau church, of which she was a member, will feel her loss. Her remains were taken to Spartanburg for interment. E. Thomson, Esq., an aged citizen of this vicinity, is quite ill at this time. The contested election case in our town seems to be not yet ended. The case was argued before the managers on the 13th instant by Messrs. C. E. Spencer and G. W. S. Hart j for the contestants, who represented the prohibition side; and T. J. Bell, Esq., appeared for the contestees, who represented the license side, the cause of the contest being the alleged deposit of five illegal votes. The case coming on, it was decided that it should be heard by affidavit instead of oral testimony. At this decision, Maj. Bell retired from the court, declaring that the opposite side had their evidence prepared, and that he was not able to rebut it, though it be false. After hearing the affidavits for the contestants, the election was declared in their favor, by drawing from the ballot box five ballots, which number it was claimed were illegal. Maj. Bell, counsel for the contestees, declared his intention of appealing, and bringing the case for review before the higher courts. The town marshal rofncoa enrrtmdor ftnv tnivn nronertv in his possession, until a decision is mr.de by the circuit court. Ego. Ault's Mill, Edgefield Co., S. C.,) July 9, 1879. j Dr. L. T. Hill: Dear Sir: I take great pleasure in commending to the public Hill's Hepatic Panacea, or Liver Medicine, for all diseases for which it is recommeuded. Knowiug the medicinal virtues of the ingredients of which it is compounded, I was induced to give it a trial in my practice, and I unhesitatiugly say that it did more in my hands thau any other "liver medicine" I ever used.
