"Do you call this a cheap house, Mr. Smith,", replied young Jones. "Well, I don't. It hasn't got a sash, there are no banisters to the stairs, and the doors are so mean they will swag so in a year that it will be almost im- 1 possible to open and shut them. You have wast- 1 ed more money on big joists, useless rafters and unnecessary framing than would have finished the house in most comfortable style. When you build a house for your next son, write first to P. P. Toale, Charleston, S. C., the largest manufacturer of doors, sashes, blinds, <fcc., in the Southern States." j October 27 43 lm This celebrated medicine has won a deservedly h.igh reputation as an alleviator of pain and a preserver of health- It has become a household remedy, from the feet that it gives immediate and permanent relief. October 6 40 lm A Torpid System. Sometimes, without any assignable cause, the physical strength and animal spirits give way, and a strange iorpor falls alike on the body and intellect. There is little or no pain perhaps, but the natural vigor and elasticity of the nervous and muscular system seems to have departed, and an indifference to the pleasures of life, and even of its grave responsibilities, takes the place of that earnest interest in both, which characterizes every well-balanced mind when in a healthy condition. fhie state of partial collapse is often the premonitory syippton) of some serious malady. It ^ indicates unmistakably thqp'tffe yltal powers are ^ languishing and need # gtiipplagt. fa *#<& wtsps j the effect of a few doses of Hostettor's Stomach I Bitters is wonderftilly beneficial. The great tonic wakes up the system from its drowse. The secretions and the circulation receive a new impetus. The relaxed nerves recover their elasticity under the operations of the specific, like the slackened strength of a musical instrument in the process of tuning. Lethargy and debility are replaced by energy and vigor, the spirits rise, and life that almost seemed a burden while the season of depression lasted, becomes once more enjoyable. That such a radical change should be produced py a remedy entirely devoid of the powerful alkaloids and minerals so extensively used in modern practice, may seem incredible to those who pin their (kith on the medicinal efficacy of active poisons, but if these skeptics will take the trouble to enquire of those who have tested the corrective and alterative virtues of the Bitters under the circumstances described, they will find the statement to be true.
