There is s fidr inquiry for country consumption, and prices somewhat advanced. ' About 5800 bushels of old .white corn was sold at 81.30 $ bushel, weight, bags included; jonning parcels 01 prime new white from store are held at about $1.20 ^ bushel, weight, bass included; 1900 bushels new Maryland was sold from seoond hands at $1.23 j* bushel, weight, bags included. There has been rather a more limited inquiry during a portion of this period, from the country trade, but there has been no important change, prices remaining very much as heretofore. We quote Northern and Western fine at |5 to $5.50 per barrel; super $5.75 to $6 per barrel; extra $6.25 to $6.75 per barrel, and family at $7 to I. $7.50 per barrel. Southern kinds are in moderate stock, and may be quoted at $7 to $7.75 per barrel for extrj, and $8 to $9 per barrel for family grades. PREMIUMS FOR CLUBS?1870. The Proprietor announces three premiums for the three largest Clubs of Subscribers to the Enquirer for the year 1870, amounting, in the aggregate, to Seventy-Five Dollars in cash. The first premium will represent the value of Thirty-Five Dollars ; the second, the value of Twenty-Five Dollars ; and the third, the value of Fifteen Dollars. The Proprietor, instead of designating special articles as premiums, has adopted the above plan in order that persons who secure the premiums may select whatever article may be preferred, of the value to which each may be entitled. The person getting np the largest Club, at $2.50 for each subscriber, will be entitled to the first of the above premiums; the person getting np the second largest, to the second premium; and the third largest, to the third premium. Competitors Lunn nwvMirinc snhserihers at once?the time ""V WVG"* of subscription to commence whenever the name is handed in, or on the first of January, 1870, as may be preferred. The money for each subscriber is expected to be paid whenever the names are entered on our books, and no name will be counted in competition until it is paid for. 9^ To persons who make up Clubs of ten or more names, but who may fail to obtain a premium, we will send the Enquirer, one year, free of charge ; and to those who send a Club of twenty or more names, but who may fail to get a premium, we will forward a copy of the Enquirer, one year, free of charge, and a copy of the Rural CaroUnina and the Southern Cultivator, or a copy of the Enquirer and either, Godey's Lady's Book, Peterson s Magazine, Frank Leslie's Lady's Magazine, or any weekly newspaper published in the United States. 99* The premiums will be awarded to the successful competitors at one o'clock, p. m., on the Seoond Monday in March, 1870. Special gfotitts. LET COMMON SENSE DECIDE. What is the rational mode of proceedure in cases , of general debility and nervous prostration ? Does not reason tell us that judicious stimulation is required. To resort to violent purgation in such a case is asabsnrd as it would be to bleed a starving mAn. Yet Itfij done eve>*y day. Ifes, this stupid and nnphilosophical practice is continued in the teeth of the great fact that physical weakness, with all the nervous disturbances that accompany it, is more certainly and rapidly relieved by Hostetter's Stomach Bitters than by any other medicine ac present known. It is true that general de bility is often attended with torpidity orirreguiarity of the bowels, and that this symptom must not be overlooked. But while the' discbarge of the waste matter of the system is thus expedited or regulated, its vigor must be recruited, The Bitters do both. They combine aperient and antibilious properties, with extraordinary tonic power. Even while removing obstructions from the bowels, they tone and invigorate those organs. Through the'stomach, upon which the great vegetable specific acts directly, it gives a healthy and permanent impetus to every enfeebled function. Digestion is facilitated, the faltering circulation regulated, the blood reinforced with a new accession of the alimentary principle, the nerves braced, and all the dormant powers of the system roused into healthy action; not spasmodically, as wonld be the case if a mere stimulant were administered, but for a continuance. It is in this way that such extraordinary changes are wrought in the condition of the feeble, emaciated and nervous invalids by the use of this wonderful corrective, alterative andtdnic. Let common sense decide between such a preparation and a prostrating cathartic, supplemented by a poisonous astringent like strychnine or quinia.* January 6 1 4t TO CONSUMPTIVES. r~ The Advertiser, having been restored to health in a few weeks, by a very simple remedy, after having suffered several year^ with a severe lung affection, and that dread disease, Consumption?is anxious to make known to his fellow-sufferers the means of cure.
