earth hi a good green old age; or else, all crying, [ frowning, fretting, growing, growling, loving and ! marrying from-impure motives, or remaining p companionless, alone for life, and in either case passing through the various stages of selfishness,! pride, hate, envy, malice and misery:?I say, I j can't think about all these things without feeK ing a deep and controlling interest in the mother of all these possibles of human nature? that is, in society. What little I know of history and philosophy and human experience comes to my mind, then, burdened with an infinitely exalted significance and blessedness. All the silent voices of the past, the present and the future, seem to come up with this utterance : man and woman are one?flesh of one flesh, bone ^ of one bone; they fell together in the lost Eden, and they rise together into that better and holier Eden of the Lamb and Love. He | has "expressed hia willingness to dispose of the Mosque of Omar to them, which, it will be recollected, stands upop the very site of the Jewish, ^ Temple on Mount Moriah. This mosque is one of the Mahommedans' most celebrated shrine^ being scarcely inferior in national,Hqportauce to those of Mecca and Medina." This "Mosque of Omar" occupies the very spot where stood the- celebrated temple of Solomon. The spot was made -sacred and therefore chosen as the site of the temple on account, it is said, of the beautiful act' ef brotherly loye narrated in this delightful legend: "There is a charming tradition connected with the site on which the Tempieof Solomon was erected. It is said to have been occupi&l in common by two brothers, one of whom had a family, the other had none. On this spot was sown a field nf On the evening succeeding the bar vest, the wheat having been gathered in separate shocks, the elder brother said unto his wife:? 'My younger brother is unable to bear the burden apd heat of the day; I will arise and lake some of my shocks and place with his, without his knowledge.' The younger brother being actuated by tbe same benevolent motives, said within himself: 'My elder brother has a family! and I havl none; I will contribute to their support; I will arise, take from myshbcks aud place with his, withoufbis knowledge.' Judge of their mutual astonishment when, on the following morning, they found their respective shocks un diminished. This course of events transpired for several nights, when each resolved, in his own mind to stand guard and solve the*mystery. They did so, when the following night they met each other half way between their respective -shocks, with their arms full. Upon ground hallowed by snob associations as these,' was the Temple of Solomon erected?so spacious and magnificent, the wonder and admiration-of the world. Alas! in these days, bow mauy would sooner steal their brother's whole shock than add to it a single sheaf." jsptcial fjUlttts. JOHN BRATTON EBWIN, YORKVILLE, S. Heaee; bitter and painful disappointment hoi followed the use of the various extracts of Sarsaparilla which flood the market,'until the name Itself is justly despised, and has become synonymous with imposition and cheat Still sre call this compound Sarsaparilla, and intend to supply each a remedy as shall rescue ihs name from the load or .obloquy which rests upon it And we think we have ground for believing it bee virtues which are irresistible by -the eedinary run of the diseases it is intended to cure.
