June 2 22 lm Nature is the great Physician.?This is now admitted by the medical profession, as a fundamental principle of healing science. It is wisely provided by the human economy, that whenever anything is WTong in the physical system, the natural forces of the body are brought to bear to expel the disease. The great aim, .therefore is to strengthen the natural powers. This has been tr> mow iir fha skillful comnounders of DR. J.V>HOSTETTER's" BITTERS^ which operate to give fresh vitality to all the organs of the body. The effect of this medicine upon the stomach, the liver and the kidneys, are prompt and decisive. The patient who is wise enough to quit a drugging, and try the Bitters, soon feels as if he had taken a new lease of life, and as he continues the use of the article, he is overjoyed to find the streams of health coursing through his frame.? In tbiB sad event we have another proof that "God's ways are not aa our ways." Mr. Babey had been for several years pursuing a coarse of classio&l and collegiate studies, preparatory to the great work of preaching the "glorious gospel of the blessed God." He had just completed his college term, and expected in a few brief weeks to commenoe a coarse of Theological studies. His amiable disposition, fair talents, studious habits, and fervent piety, gave promise of a useful future. But He who doeth all things according to the counsel of his own will, has seen fit to blast the fond hopes and expectations of his friends in cau?? ?. ??4 ???? ?i,;u u ?.c yet morning. But we may not call in question' the wisdom, the justice, or the goodness of the Ailwise Disposer of events?"The judge of all the earth will do right." We cannot but mourn the early death of one so amiable and so promising, but "we sorrow not as those who have no hope." He had sought and found the pearl of great price ?had obtained "a hope through grace," and had united himself with the Independent Presbyterian Church, of which he continued to be a worthy and highly esteemed member until his death.? During the latter years of his life, his exemplary conduct won the hearts of all with whom he came in oontaot. For him, "to live was Christ, and to die was gain." His last hours were calm and peaceful, and he now "sleeps in Jesus." May this event be sanctified to the spiritual interests of all his associates and friends, and to the Church which he loved so devotedly. C. Died?In this place on Sabbath evening, 19th instant, after a protraoted illness, Rev. WILLIAM H. JOHNSTON. The deceased was born in Rowan county, N. C., on the 24th of May, 1819. He was a graduate of Davidson College, and of the Princeton Theological Seminary; was licensed by the Presbytery of New Brunswick, April 1845; and ordained by the Presbytery of Cherokee, in June 1846, and took charge of the Churches of LaFayette, Pea-Vine and Chickairau^a, in the State of Georgia. To a part of this charge he ministered until laid aside from his chosen work by the hand of his Master. His affliotions were continued through a term of nearly eight years, during two or three of which he occasionally preached the Gospel, though under great bodily pain and weakness. Many days of pain and "wearisome niRhts were appointed onto him." But throughout the whole, "he quieted himself as a child that is weaned of its mother." "And as the outward man perished, the inward man was removed day by day." He had long looked death steadily in the face; and when his approach was announced, there was no perturbation or alarm. The tyrant had been disarmed, and he gently fell asleep on the evening of the day of rest, as we are $rmly persuded, to awake in the light of a Sabbath, that shall know no setting sun. With diligence and -fidelity, did our friend and brother perform the duties of the several relations in life, to which in the Providence of God he was called. He was an amiable companion, a most affectionate husband and father, an humble christian and a devoted and successful minister of the Lord Jesus Christ. Many friends mourn for hito; but the stroke falls most heavily upon his beloved partner and three little daughters. The God of the widow and the fatherless be their support, and exceeding great reward, lie "rests from his labors, and his works do follow him." J. M. H.
