naked, and no-necked drapery, stylo of semi-nudity of costume by the ladies of the imperial court. Eugenie favored the plan because she was gettiDg obese and looked bunohy with high-necked dresses, besides having fine shoulders and bust, and she took the lead in inaugurating the fashion by coming out in a dress which had no sleeves, the upper edge of the waist passing under the arms and so across back and breast. Thus very little material is wasted in needless superfluity of covering for the upper part of the person. This style is calculated to prove an advantage in one contingency, for if Austria should be too much for Prance, and the invaders should reach Paris, the patriotic and despairing ladies of the empire, scorning to surviye. its fall, would not find it necessary "to bare their bosoms to the weapons of the enemy," their miliners having saved them the trouble. We remark that this fashion, though not in its extreme, has already travelled across the water to Georgia. In such weather, it looks cool?"decidedly cool."?Augusta Dispatch. Show the]Stars and Stripes.?The Secretary of the Treasury has prepared a cit ;ul?lr to the Collectors of Customs, of which the following is the suosiance : "The immunity of our merchant vessels at sea from seizure, search, detention or visit, in time of peace, by the.vessels of war from any foreign nation being now admitted by all the maratime powers of the world, it is very desirable that the nationality of our vessels should always be promptly displayed in the presence of a ship of war.? The Secretary of the Treasury is directed by the President to instruct Collectors of Customs to request the captains in the merchant service at their respective ports always to display their colors as promptly as possible, whenever they meet upon the ocean an armed cruiser of any nation." For a long time the medical world have been continually bringing forth numerous specifies for its permament cure ; but all without effect. Dr. J.
